Since the mall just opened when Auguste and Margaret went there, it was just the two of them in the department store. The only other people there are the mall staff, and Margaret noticed once again that they are not familiar with Auguste. Although they are still very polite, it’s obvious that the treatment they give him is for a regular customer and not for an owner of the company.
“How does it feel that your employees do not recognize you?” Margaret asked him.
“There’s not much difference, actually,” Auguste answered. “They don’t worship me as well back in Tarlac just because I own the company. They greet me when they see me, that’s all. Although, if people know who I am, I doubt they would let me see them do that.”
Auguste pointed to some staff who are chatting with one another. There is no customer to serve yet, so their job is not affected by the said chitchatting.
