Margaret's residence has a small backyard that is big enough to have some fruit trees and vegetables planted on the ground. There is a rectangular wooden table at the left side of the property, with two long wooden benches on either side.
Margaret took Auguste to the table, and they sat side by side on one of the wooden benches.
"Sorry for coming unannounced," Auguste said to her.
"It's okay," Margaret said. "Actually, it's nice having you here. At least, it diverts everyone's attention to what is really going on..."
Her voice drifted as sadness started lacing it. She looked down as her feelings mirrored her voice.
Suddenly, she felt Auguste's hand on hers. She looked at him, and Auguste gave her a kind smile. That made her smile as well.
"Sorry," she said. "This is not what should happen on a boyfriend's first visit to his girlfriend's house."
"It's okay," Auguste said. "I'm used to unexpected circumstances."
