Chapter Ten Chapter Ten

Riley got home just a few minutes later still thinking about what the Lieutenant had told her. She proceeded to the doorway, it was the same as every other in the massive 2 story mansion, straight with clean lines, beautiful sculptures, and flanking sidelights.

The living room of the beautiful two story mansion was well furnished. The first thing that you would first notice when in the living room was the long sofa upholstered with quilted leather, and detailed with a buttoned back, it was weaved with golden thread forming a raised pattern. Just in front of the sofa was a footstool, which was a short, wide, four legged stool in which the top was upholstered with a white tiger's hide. On the sofa were pillows and blankets well furnished of different colours and with matching polka dot patterns. Beside the footstool was a coffee table where the remote controls, the TV remote, magazines and some decorative objects were kept. Just opposite the couch on the pitch black wall was the large flat screen television, just below it were LCD speakers and a DVD player.

The flat screen television was housed in a long wooden media cabinet kept with framed photos of their wedding. Beside the right side of the media cabinet was a floor lamp radiating different colours, and the left side was a wall sconce radiating white bright light. There was also another media cabinet located a little far away from the first which housed the fireplace. This media cabinet was furnished with stone bricks and this was where the table clock was located. There was also a portrait painting of their wedding located beside it on the wall. Opposite the right side of the media cabinet was a magazine rack where different types of magazines were kept. On the left side was a display cabinet and shoe racks were kept. On the ceiling were chandeliers. There were carpet rugs on the floor. Opposite the entrance door were window blinds and shutters with drapes and curtains of different patterns. On the floor in front of the windows were plants.

Riley walked in and saw that Marco was on the recliner in front of the fireplace again. He must have been stressed out as he always sat there to relieve his stress. All that the lieutenant had told her was still astonishing. She didn't even know that her dad had died such a horrible death. She thought of telling Marco everything, but it was way too dangerous for that. Who knew if the same person who killed her dad and aunt was watching them? Riley was terrified at the feeling that she might be watched by someone. She didn't fully understand who would want to kill someone as ruthlessly as that. She heaved a deep sigh. This was all confusing. She didn't understand why this was happening.

Marco felt a presence and when he looked back, he saw Riley lost in deep thoughts.

"Where have you been?! I have been waiting for you all day!", he asked, a little annoyed though worried at the same time.

"I'm sorry, i got a ca--", she said, remembering what had happened earlier that day. She froze for a moment, hoping that he wouldn't get suspicious.

"You got a--?",

"Um..i--i,"she said, stuttering.

"I mean..i got bored when you weren't home, so i was just taking a walk, and so um..i saw your ex.

"My ex?", he asked, confused as he thought she was no longer in the city.

"Yeah..i was annoyed, so i beat her up pretty bad. I can't accept that fact that you used to date my best friend you know?"

Riley used to have a friend named Patricia. At the time when they were in school, they used to be very close. She used to share everything with her including her crush on Marco at the time. But instead of helping them get together as a good friend should, she just ended up backstabbing her and making the move first. Riley was heartbroken and just broke off their friendship.

Marco burst out a howling laughter afterwards.

"Did your really do that? I actually thought you were over this, turns out i was wrong. You're still jealous of Patricia, huh? I wonder i she probably fainted after the whooping you gave her."

"How dare you still ask me that!', said Riley, displeased as she rolled her eyes. and huffed.

"Don't ever talk to me again!"

"Come on, you know i was just messing with you. You know that it is you that i will always love, and that can never change okay?", he said as he patted her head softly.

"You had better get some sleep.", he said, but noticed that Riley had already fallen asleep on his lap.

"Poor thing. Must have been tired after all the drama she went through."

Marco got lost in thoughts again, about what Riley said the doctor had told her about her pregnancy. It just didn't add up. How did the doctor have so much information about it? How did he know when the pregnancy was to be due?

"Tundra, do you think this is suspicious too?"

"I think it's easy enough. The doctor was very close to Riley's parents and they were most likely werewolves, so there is a high possibility he was told about it. So, yes, he knows about werewolves and Riley too."

"I would have to pay him a visit. I need to know what he knows. This should be able to help me to at least understand what is happening to Riley.", said Marco as he soon slept on the couch afterwards.
