Hope (2)

School has been kinda boring lately. The days fly by with nothing really achieved. Everyday at Magic Studies I see the empty chair next to me and feel this strange feeling in my chest.

There isn't anything I can do and I know that, I just gotta wait until my sister comes home. Then we can try to finish the magi-tech and save William.

Days feel so empty though, and I just can't wait anymore. After school is over, I head to the hospital again to visit William. Just a quick teleport and I'm there, this spell is really useful.

*Knock* *Knock*

"Hey William, you there?"

"Oh, hi Jess."

"I brought some games to play," I say pulling out some board games. "If you want, we can try some of them. There are a few I've never played before."

I hope this can relieve some of his boredom. There is nowhere to plug in a gaming console so this will have to do.

We play a couple obscure games and then play a couple main stream ones after we're done. After a game of Jenga and another round of Monopoly, I decided to head home. Impressed we finished a game of Monopoly in such a short amount of time during a hospital visit? William isn't learning Time magic for no reason y'know?

He seemed to be doing a lot better, looks like he'll be able to head back to school soon. Of course, they are hiding is magic poisoning as to not freak out the entire school, but he is still on a timer. If someone can't heal his magic poisoning soon, maybe in a year, he will die. I cannot allow that to happen.

Finally the weekend comes and my sister is back home. We start getting back to work on the magi-tech to suck out MP right away.

"Hey, if we succeed, do you mind letting me get a patent for this?"

"Sure, but why?"

"What we are making is not only important to your friend, but could also help so much others y'know. So I wanna profi-ahem, help those people by selling this device."

Did she almost say profit? "Do whatever you want, I just need to save William."

"Yeah, yeah got it."

Once we finally have a working prototype, that hopefully won't explode, we put it to the test. I attach it to my arm to watch what will happen and… it works. However, it drained MP way too slow for it to account for William's MP recovery.

But the prototype's a start. If we can increase efficiency for the magi-tech, then we will finally have what we were looking for. I'm so close, if this device is used properly, maybe it can help buy time for his body to get used to the MP it contains.

No one ever cures themselves of magic poisoning because it's impossible to let their bodies get used to the amount of MP they have. If they don't suppress the MP they die, but if they do, they will never get used to the MP in their bodies.

Basically, it's a lose-lose scenario.

However, if we use this device to gradually up the MP in his body while keeping it at acceptable levels, his body, over years of course, could get used to it's MP and function without the tech. Magic poisoning is so dangerous in the first place because MP grows stronger throughout your adolescent years.

Basically, on top of having too much MP, you are stacking more on top of that. Doesn't allow your body to get used to the MP and you die before maturity. Hopefully this device will prevent that.
