Panic

"Uncle, why are you still here? I thought you said that you will be waiting in the car." Renessa approached Jefri who was standing alone in the lobby.

"Earlier there was a friend of mine who also just finished lunch here, chatted briefly, just now his car passed by," Jefri said.

"Oh,,,," Renessa answered briefly while nodding.

"Here's your bag," Jefri thrust the clutch bag in his hand at the girl. Renessa froze when she saw two similar clutch bags in her hand.

"Huh?" Renessa's body froze and quickly opened the clutch bag she had picked up from upstairs. A cellphone with a bright pink casing greeted Renessa as she opened the bag she had grabbed earlier.

She didn't have time to check its contents as she quickly took it from a man. She immediately closed the bag and half ran towards the elevator because she felt she had kept Jefri waiting too long. Renessa groaned when she realized what she had just done.

"How come there are two bags?" Jefri murmured when he realized that Renessa was holding two of the same bag with a panicked expression.

"Om, wait here for a moment, I'm going up again," Renessa said in a hurry and half-ran her way to the elevator. Unfortunately, the elevator was already moving up so she had to wait for a while.

Renessa wanted to turn back time and slap herself five minutes ago. How could she grab someone's clutch bag and say it was hers. She really wanted to disappear right then and there. She should have checked the contents and not snatched it from its owner on a whim.

While waiting in panic, a man emerged from the fire escape at the end of the corridor. Renessa immediately recognized the man as the owner of the bag. The man approached her with an annoyed look on his face but before he could say anything, Renessa quickly thrust the clutch bag in her hand and said in a loud voice, "Sorry, sir, uh, I thought this was my bag."

The man folded his arms in annoyance after receiving the clutch bag from Renessa and looked at the girl with a probing gaze, asking for an explanation.

"My bag is similar to the one you're holding, and I happened to be sitting there before you came. I thought it was my bag, but it turns out my bag was already taken by the person who came with me," Renessa said regretfully.

The man looked incredulous but when his eyes caught a similar bag in Renessa's other hand, he slightly believed her words.

"Next time be more careful, okay. You will be in real trouble if people mistook you for a pickpocket," the man said curtly.

"I am really sorry, i will remember that," Feeling that her business was done, Renessa immediately turned around and walked quickly towards Jefri who was looking at her confused.

"Let's go, uncle," Renessa said as she pulled Jefri's hand so that they could leave the place immediately.

But they hadn't walked far when the man called out behind her again. Renessa wanted to pretend she hadn't heard and just disappear from the place. She wanted to run and pull Uncle Jefri away from the place but he couldn't read her mind at all and stopped waiting for the man to move closer to them.

"Looks like this bag belongs to you," the man said, handing Renessa the clutch bag he had given her after she had had enough of him. Renessa was stunned for a few moments before realizing that she had given him the wrong bag.

"Sorry, I was in a hurry so I kind of forget which one is yours," Renessa said with a stiff smile. She felt like her face was as red as a tomato this time. Jefri just looked at Renessa with amusement.

"Thank you, sir," Renessa said and hurriedly pulled Jefri's hand away.

Jefri laughed out loud when Renessa finally told him about the clutch bag incident in the restaurant earlier in the car. He didn't expect Renessa to be that careless. It turned out that such coincidences really existed in this world. He initially thought such incidents only happened in movies but after hearing and seeing the incident himself he could finally believe in such coincidences.

How could people with the same clutch bag sit in the same place only a few minutes apart?

"How could you be so careless?" Jefri said in disbelief after his laughter subsided, "You must be dumbstruck by that handsome man's good looks?" Jefri teased.

"I don't know, I just know that what happened earlier was the most embarrassing incident of my life," Renessa replied with a slight groan of annoyance. She couldn't remember what he looked like because she was so embarrassed by the incident. She didn't even dare to look at his face when she returned the bag.

Sensing that the girl beside him was really upset, Jefri immediately gave comfort, "It's okay, this won't happen every day anyway. You won't see that guy again either."

Renessa sighed heavily at Jefri's words of comfort. She really hoped she would never see that man again. She wouldn't even step foot in that restaurant for the rest of her life even though it served very good food.

Jefri laughed again when he saw Renessa groaning regretfully remembering the incident.

After that day, Renessa never saw Jefri again. The middle-aged man was busy managing the construction of an orphanage in another city and doing charity work in several areas.

She also followed Jefri's advice by taking a short break and rethinking everything she wanted to do and what she wanted to achieve.

Mary was quite devastated by Vina's departure; she did not hesitate to accuse Renessa of being the cause of Vina leaving her. Laura and Rudi try to give Mary an explanation, but Mary is like a child who doesn't want to listen to anything she doesn't like. She cried bitterly and even threatened to go on a hunger strike until Mary could return to work there.
