You should be angry

"I gave a principal the list of names that's why the school went into a longer lock down." Mormon confessed. Mormon was severely damaged after his fall. He wanted revenge for the pain inflicted on him and giving up the names felt like the one way to feel vindicated. It would put him and the principal under fire but exposing them all was the way to go.

"Why?" Zayn didn't get why Mormon would drag down his own name along with everyone else. Everything could have easily just fell on Renee just like Saintclair planned.

"You were never gonna leak it huh?" Mormon laughed but winced at a now scar forming on his smile lines. He wasn't at all surprised at the boy's apprehension to sully everyone's involved names. "I get it." He adjusted himself as much as he could to get into a better sitting position. "I couldn't just let Renee be thrown under the bus and I have nothing else left to lose. I'm already villainized for what happened in my other school and I don't have much chance of clearing my name and now that's completely gone I don't care. It was easy to throw it all on Renee due to her status but it's not right for just her to take the fall Saintclair should go down with the ship since he's the captain and as his first mate I'll go too." He wasn't having the expected reaction of someone who just got suspended and got the shit beat out of him. It was sort of off putting to Zayn.

"I don't get it."

"You don't have to. It's over. Some of us might get off easy like Aaron for only associating and baiting and some of us could get criminal charges like Saintclair. Were you ever gonna drop the videos and documents of the baiting?" That wasn't a box that Zayn particularly wanted to open but Mormon wanted to dig into. "You were on that list with full details of what to do with you yet you're still cool with Aaron. Why?" Mormon stared at him waiting for some sort of answer but Zayn himself didn't have one; it was like he blocked that out when he read the list. When he read it he clanked out and kept it pushing. Everytime he interacted with Aaron it never came up but he could sense what he read creeping in the back of his mind like a faded memory. "That's what I don't get. It's sad. You saw the points you saw in the video scripts. Why aren't you angry? Why aren't you ripping him apart, verbal and physically? What the fuck is wrong with you?" Mormon wasn't saying this with any anger laced in his voice but his usual condescending tone. Zayn didn't get it either. When he thinks about it now, why didn't he get ballistic over that?

"I… don't know."

"You don't know? That's hilarious. I mean the guy trained to be your friend. He trained to come off like he liked you from what I know he actually did and that's where he fucked up." Mormon knew a lot and his archive on his flash drive showed how much he was documenting. He knew a lot and he was the perfect whistle-blower. He sat and watched and moved in his snake motion which got him by.

Zayn cringed at his own ignorance. He was flinching at Mormon's words. He felt extremely stupid for glossing over it and blocking out his memory of that. Blocking out things became normal for Zayn after awhile he kinda blocked out his parents and he blocked out his recall of the summer before freshman year.

"I'm not trying to shit on you or whatever but maybe you should consider being friends with him. It's like you like him or something." He said it sarcastically but Zayn's deep in-thought brain didn't pick that up. His eyes widened at the suggestion and Mormon threw him a suspicious look. "I'm kidding. I feel like I'll make some leeway in my judgment and say it's because you lacked friends at the time but I feel like you would delete him from existence. There was some major bias there. You booted Tiffany and Harry like tomorrow but Aaron stuck around and it didn't make sense to me. You don't have to say anything but I'm just wondering." Mormon layed back down and started scrolling through his phone while Zayn stood there questioning himself.

He didn't like the deep sinking feeling he was feeling. He just felt shitty for dismissing his own feelings for someone else. Mormon was right he should have the desire to beat up or do some type of revenge on Aaron. His fist clenched as the thoughts flooded his mind.

"Don't make it bloody. Not everybody needs to be in a jail cell right now." Mormon commented snorting at his own joke.

Zayn drove away from the hospital with a new feeling of resentment. He could tell if he should be glad Mormon helped dig that up or not but he had to thank him. He wasn't at all sad anymore for what happened the other day but felt more angrier than ever. He thought of millions of scenarios in which he could do as an act of revenge but none of them seem perfect enough. This wasn't his thing to brain storm like this. This needed time. This was something he needed to sit on to be perfect but he didn't want to take that long. His phone vibrated in his pocket alerting him to something.

[EXTENDED SUMMER AND EVENTS AFTER THE BREAK]

Zayn let out a loud sigh at the message appearing on his screen. One burning building was doing this much damage? Zayn walked into his home only to be greeted by his sister with a less than welcoming smile. She patted a seat next to her which he hesitantly sat in.

"I have news."

"Okay." He was cautious of the girl's smile. It seems like it had motives behind it.

"I went to that parent teacher conference thingy today and school's out… til after summer."

"I know."

"But here's the thing. I just feel like you need it and I heard other people are sending their kids to stuff like this due to the crazy year. Instead of for the summer attending that camp thing you're going somewhere different a little earlier."

"Are you trying to send me to some mental hospital again?!" This felt like the same song and dance again. His tone raised and he didn't want to hear anymore about this. "I'm coping, I'm doing well. I get it. I am slipping right now but I'm trying to not break over everything happening!"

"Zayn I'm just sending somewhere to get away from all of this. It's not here, it's in Crystal Heights, it's like a vacation spot. It's close to our grandparents and where I work so it's ok." Zayn seemed to calm down but he still felt like it all seemed questionable. He didn't feel wrong for it. "It was actually the Venices who mentioned it to me. They're thinking of taking Danie somewhere similar for a while and brought it up. Can you please work with me and consider it." His sister's eyes pleaded with him to say yes but he wanted to disregard that.

"Okay,"

He didn't want to go but he felt like he would be forced if he didn't agree. As soon as he stepped into his room his phone lit up from a group call with Daniela and Lorel. He mental rolled his eyes as he picked up the phone.

"NEWS! You saw the announcement?!" Lorel screamed through the scream with joy. She was rejoicing in her seat at the prospects for their upcoming summer. "This is so great. We could do SOOO MUCH!! UGH!! I can't wait!" Lorel didn't yet notice both Daniela and Zayn's heavy moods. "What the fuck is up with you two? Somebody died?" Lorel asked jokingly.

"I won't be able to spend the summer with you?" Daniela uttered

"What? Why?" Lorel creased her eyebrow as her eyes twitched between her and Zayn. "What about you? Why do you look like that?"

"Uh… same." Lorel's eyes slightly widened.

"Bullshit." She wanted to believe they were pulling a prank on her but their unwavering awkward expression showed the opposite. "Why?"

"I'm going somewhere in a few days to stay for the summer."

"It's fucking Rehab right?" Lorel scoffs, pissed off that her summer wasn't going the way she planned.

"Not really…" Daniela flipped her hair uncomfortably.

"And you're doing what?"

"Something similar."

"Ugh! So I'm gonna be alone here? You're not even going to sports camp with me?" Daniela shook her head at the girl's question. "I'm gonna hate yall when you come back."

"You don't mean that."

"You're leaving me here. I thought we were going to be together." Lorel fumed.

"Well uh- plans changed. It's not my fault my sister insisted." Not like he was making justifications for his sister sending him away but what could he do other than sit in the back of her car in silence and ride out his extended summer in what he might consider a prison.
