Chapter 43

Every citizen of Da'nu stood still in fear as the dirt beneath their feet shook. Children clung to their parents' legs, eyes closed tight against the chaos around them. The brilliant, blinding, pure-white light flew out from the Mother Tree and raced across the land, bathing everything from the smallest insect to the tallest tree. The haunting chorus of thousands of twisted monsters filled the air and could be heard all the way in the Winterland mountains as darkness was ripped from their bodies. Da'nu shifted in that moment, reverting its former self. The dirt healed, the air cleared, and the waters became calm once more.

The birds were the first to celebrate, their chitter growing to a deafening roar as the dust settled. Howls, roars, and barks followed, then the people finally realized what had happened, and they joined in with their own cheers and hurrahs.
