A New Plan

"Calm down. Relax. Hear me out."

"Shame on you! Isn't the plan we get married and make those bastards jealous? Why am I suddenly someone else's wife?"

She had so many questions!

He scratched his head and mumbled, "Well, I took the wrong ID card yesterday. To be exact, I stole it."

"You stole an ID card?" She patted her head and said, "I'm not sober. But why did you have to steal your own ID card?"

He plopped down on the big bed and explained, "It's a long story. Derek.... He is my uncle. He found out I snuck to Italy and withheld my ID card. I was drunk when I stole it, so I got the wrong one."

"Derek is your uncle?" She was astonished and excited. "He is the omnipotent Great Demon King?"

Ernest nodded.

"Holy crap! Then I'm your aunt now?"

Ernest didn't want to admit that.

She rolled her bright eyes.

"But don't worry. He doesn't have time to deal with you. When he comes back, he will definitely divorce you. I promise to kick those bastards' asses when this blows over!"

Ernest extended three fingers and motioned a promise.

Then he nudged her arm and said, "My uncle is gay. So, he definitely didn't touch you last night."

She gaped at him in disbelief!

"You said he was..."

"He's gay. But don't blabber about it. The reporters who dared to release this are all out of jobs, and the newspapers and magazines they worked for were shut down. So, the consequences would be unthinkable."

Serina bit her tongue. But she remembered they did it last night....

"You don't need to be afraid. He wouldn't do anything to you. This was my mistake. At most, he would throw me some punches."

His face said he would sacrifice himself for their cause.

"He hits people?"

Who would do that in this civilized society? Moreover, Ernest was already twenty-one, so why would Derek punish him that way?

"That is another secret in our family. My uncle is inclined to violence. When you talk about divorce, you must be careful. If you piss him off, you will be finished."

Serina's mouth was so wide-open that a bulb would fit in!

Who did she marry?

"Serina, actually, last night...."

Ernest was about to say something when the butler Henry Geller said at the door, "Mr. Ernest, Mr. Derek said you should hurry to S City for the shooting. Your manager, Lucas, is waiting for you in the living room."

Serina looked at the man in his fifties and then at Ernest's long face.

"I knew it would be like this. Alright, I'm leaving. Text me if you need anything!" Ernest stood up listlessly and trailed towards the door.

Ernest's eyes dimmed as he walked out of the door. He glanced at the bedroom out of the corner of his eye in disappointment.

She sat beside the headboard and dangled her legs, as if she was deep in thought.

Ernest stifled his displeasure and quickly left.

The phone at the nightstand rang, and Serina walked over to pick it up. When she saw the number, she couldn't help but roll her eyes.

But she still answered the phone, "Hello!"

"Serina, where are you? The entire family is looking for you like crazy!"

"I'm sorry to disappoint you. I'm not dead yet."

"Serina! What does that mean? Serina, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have.... But don't blame Clara. She's the victim. I got drunk that night...."

"Stop! Stop! She's the victim? Then what am I? Sammy, tell me. What am I?"

They had known each other since they were born and had been engaged since then. From kindergarten onwards, Sammy had been telling everyone Serina was his fiancé.

There was a short silence. "Serina, I...."

Just as Serina was about to speak, she heard a cry over the phone. It was so pitiable that she wished she could get over there and comfort the poor soul.

"Sammy, Serina wouldn't forgive me? It's all my fault. I'm to blame. Please ask her to come back. I'll leave."

"Clara, stop blaming yourself. This is my fault."

Serina found them ridiculous and hung up!

Dad had already agreed to their marriage. Whom was this show for?

Serina gripped her phone as a plan matured in her mind.
