CHAPTER 39: RETURNING

' The fight was done with. Barmis was, thankfully, dead. ' Looking at up towards the spectators, he continued. ' The crowd of rob's just keep looking at me with an obvious interest in their eyes. My soul is on display to these beings... I think I overstayed my welcome here. I need to leave, so I can continue my days in peace. '

" Rob, I think you know what I'm going to ask for. I don't want to be here any longer. " Zane said, before his rob nodded in response, and with the flick of a wrist, Zane dissipated before any of the others showed up to come question him about the match or him.

-------------------------------------------------------

' That was it. I didn't need to stay there anymore and talk to anyone for obvious reasons.... Being back on Diana's island. It wasn't so bad at least. It was a breath of fresh air I needed at this moment in time. ' Standing up, zane analyzed the changes his body went through. ' I think I looked 'fresh' enough for them all to not recognise me, at least not easily. ' Zane thought.

The power he absorbed from Barmis was literally a metamorphosis in terms of his growth. Which is still ongoing. His hair was now an extremely dark raven blue, with his eyes changed again being aquamarine in color with having its signature glow. He even gave himself a needed hair cut too, since it was touching the ground all the time. Currently, it was just above should shoulder length with a slightly untamed look due to his saiyan DNA, but it didn't look bad in his opinion.

Looking at his status, he saw changes in abilites, mainly his training perk. That doesn't exist anymore, it was called ' transcendence ', He realized that his evolution and adaption passives most likely disappeared in the process as well, with his virus and bloodlines remaining the same, with some... recent additions.

Thinking for a bit, he knew that with his new perk, he wouldn't need to train, him existing by default gains strength endlessly, which is strange to get used to. He compared it to absorbing solar energy, but on some serious steroids.

Looking on the ground in the cave, he realized that a piece of paper was at the entrance that had a rock on it. " A note? " He said. Picking it up and reading its contents.

_____________________________

Dear Zane,

If you ever decide to come back to my home and find this, then I hope you decide to reconsider coming back to the outside world. There isn't much on my island to keep you there for too long. So, with some help, I received a hidden base built in Canada. The address is xxx street at xxx lane.

When you are ready and want to meet up in the future, you can come at anytime.

Yours truly, Diana

Smiling at the gesture. Zane quickly left the cave and flew to Canada.

Blending in was some-what easy now... except for the stares he was getting. He wore a black hoodie and extremely baggy yet casual clothes to hide his appearance from the crowed present. But being 7,2. You are bound to get a little attention. It is America after all.

Reaching the given address. Zane knocked on the door. Waiting for an answer. Eventually it did. Diana came out surprised to see him. No, it was a shocked expression instead. Like she was seeing a walking dead man. ' That look can't be good... ' Zane thought.

" Hey Diana, long time no see. I saw the letter a while ago. Came as soon as I could... I know I might seem a little different, but it's still me. "

She just looked up, still shocked, with her hands covering her mouth with tears threatening to fall. Only to hear someone else in the home calling out to her name.

" Hey Diana, who's at the door? " Asked a familiar male voice.

Hearing the voice, zane knew of who it was. Knight wing, surprising but not unexpected. It seemed a little fast even for a woman like Diana to move on so quickly. But zane caught on with what was going on. Knowing what was going to occur next, he decided it wasn't the best to stay here. Something was up.

" Yeah... I think I should take my leave. I am probably disrupting your moment. I'll drop by another time, when its ok to come again. " Zane said. He wasn't angry or anything, he truly didn't want to disrupt whatever Diana had going on, and he didn't want any drama after his battle.

" WAIT! " she said, tears flowing from her eyes, but her voice was eerily calm... " Where have you been for the last 2 years... " she said. " I have waited for a whole year for your return and even now... Why didn't you come sooner? " She said with a bit of anger in her voice building up.

Clearly confused, Zane responded immediately to defend himself. " What do you mean by 2 years? I've been gone for an hour or two at most. " This was weird, 2 whole years? That's impossible. Unless... .

Diana looked even more upset now, her voice becoming a little shaken. " NO, ZANE! 𝒀𝑶𝑼 have been gone for 2 years. The whole league thought you either left for good or died, being nothing but space dust. I tried Zane... I tried to have hope in your return, but nothing... I had enough time to sort my feelings for you. It took me the entire first year to be sure I wasn't just crazy. Like you told me too. I was willing to give up that life for you! To settle down, to have kids, to be married, to 𝑭𝑬𝑬𝑳 𝑳𝑶𝑽𝑬𝑫. "

She shouted angrily. Continuing. " I convinced and finally reassured myself that I was indeed in love with you... as abrupt and foolish as it may have been... But-but... you show up now after I have tried to move on! "

Zane said nothing... he had a theory as to why so much time had passed. Even so... he owed her nothing. He never promised to be with her. He never told her she should wait on him. Call him selfish, but he wouldn't be blamed for something that wasn't entirely his fault to begin with.

Without going into any anger, Zane calmly responded. " I see... . Well, at least you finally found someone to care for. I am sorry for the long and 𝘶𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 return. If you still have a way to help me lie low, we can still talk about 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴... If you don't, we can still chat another time. " Zane said. He wasn't going to argue over something that happened 2 years ago to her. That's pointless, and doing it here would stir up something he didn't want to. So he left with nothing but disappointment on his mind, knowing something was clearly wrong.
