CHAPTER 41: CLEARING THINGS UP

Shortly after the meeting with 'her', Zane didn't want to get rusty over the time he was going to spend earning a living. He went into his inventory to use his new weighted clothing. Asking the system a bunch of questions regarding the process of their full capabilities.

After all, he didn't want to sink through earth instantly when putting the on the whole thing.

Not only could they go up to literal levels of infinity. They could also shift his own weight and set it to what he personally wants. Meaning he didn't have to be over 5 tons when walking into a building, but a solid 450 pounds of pure muscle, lifting a ridiculous amount of weight in the process.

Not only could they do that, but they also have an auto-adjust function built in, which allows them to get heavier the stronger he got. The process was simple yet genius. The weights had a scanner which analyzed his body's capabilities and adapting itself to put a strain on the user, but not enough to mess up their everyday lives if they used it the way he did.

After finishing the miscellaneous tasks he had, it was time to get think of a job. " How should I go about this... I don't want to hack into some fodder's account and steal their money, that was simply overused and childish in my opinion.... I think I should just go full on just and get a job legit instead, could be a little fun too. Maybe a construction side piece would do in the meantime to earn a place to stay. " Zane said, walking through the forest aimlessly.

" But first, I will need to get some paperwork done... That's going to be a little tedious, though. " He doesn't have any legal document to say he even exists on the planet. They could chalk him up as a someone highly suspect or even a criminal trying to go in the easy way, and he doesn't want that. A Dishonest life tends to bite one in the ass when least expected.

Him hacking his documents into existence could spell trouble for him in the future, even though he theoretically could make his hack untraceable, but he won't be taking any chances. This would be a clean slate. For himself. A fresh start in leading an honest life. But to start, he was going to need a little... help, for now, in terms of getting started and acquiring basic resources, that is.

" Theres only one that could help me in this situation... " He sighed. He would have to wait a week before the next meeting, which was annoying. " I hope she isn't going to remain upset with me while returning next time. " He knew this would be a little stressful.

~/Diana's Pov\~

Rubbing her head for a bit she thought of what transpired a week ago, ' my long lost 'lover' suddenly appeared after two whole years of being missing, and now I seem to not care as nearly as much as I did before... ' Sighing at the thought, she grabbed and drank a glass of water to think about the situation a bit more.

' He also said he was gone for no more than just an hour or 2 from what he said. It didn't seem like he was lying either... ' She sighed once more with a bit of her anger leaking out. She knew what he said could be a lie, and that thought upset her more, but what if it was the truth?

Even now, she felt herself thinking more clearly than before, her thoughts more organised, not solely being on him like before. She could think properly for once... the change It happened a week ago. She felt a little less attachment towards him, but there was clearly still love for Zane in her heart. The thought upset her to no end. Her own

She had someone in her life now, but she was thinking of another man... ' It's a good thing that we were not completely serious. ' She thought her and Dick's relationship was merely out of mutual comfort. They both had their own fair share of issues and left it at that, not really prying into each other's problems, unless the one freely told the other. But in Dick's case. She could understand and even pity him a little for his own crisis.

Essentially, Dick had major conflicts with Starfires' ever growing... libido and it being out of control. Any normal man would be. That's all they needed to be elaborated about their case.

Diana truly felt sorry for him, since he loved her to literal death. And both their problems were similar enough for both to find a little solace in each other, trying to move on from the news that their loved one wasn't what they seemed.

But after thinking for a week with a level head, she was finally willing to hear Zane out; he wasn't given much of a chance due to her anger playing a major role in the squabble they had when he returned.

' Today was the day of his return... but I hope he could at least keeps his word this time and not to disappear without a trace, for another two yea- ' She thought, before her thoughts were cut off, with knocking at the door.

She got up immediately; she was already dressed in casual wear, so there was no need to change into anything befitting. Walking towards the door. With every step, her heart felt lighter and was thumping harder.

After all this time, she could have a proper conversation with the person she loved for so long. A decent conversation with a stable mind. Seeing the towering and broad figure behind the doors' glass, she knew who it was. But she calmed herself before opening it.

" Hey Diana... You aren't still upset with me, are you? I can still wa- " Zane said with reluctance, before he got cut off by her. " No Zane. " She said with a bit of a sigh. " I am not upset... at least, not nearly as much as before. Come in... We can continue the discussion inside. "

Smiling behind his hoodie. He quickly responded, " Yeah... Let's do that. " He was content now. She didn't seem overly forceful, nor fake or awkward as she used to be. She seemed more mature and real than ever. His first conversation that felt legitimate.
