Chapter 2

"Hello doctor... I'm fine, I just closed from work... Yeah, I'm at the bus stop at Hopetown road... Ok, I'll be waiting for you". She hangs up the call and deeps both hands and her smart phone into the side pockets of her jacket. She was nervous. The sky was black and dark with countless dotted stars. She lowered her head from looking at the stars to the road at her left hand side, where very few cars drove out from. That side of the road was completely dark and lonely at night. That side of the road had no street lights, unlike the side she stood. She had heard reports severally that no matter how many times the lights over there were fixed it always ended up being destroyed by unknown people that were never captured in CCTV cameras. That is why that side of the road was abandoned to darkness and creepy loneliness.

A taxi approached towards her from her right hand side and parked right next to her, close to the pavement where she stood. The door of the taxi opened, and someone wearing a black hat stepped out of the taxi. When he turned towards her she recognized him. He was the psychiatrist. He walked to her with a smile that eased her tension a little bit. "Good evening Natasha".

"Good evening Doctor. Did you bring your gun with you"?

"Yes I did. It's a pistol". He opened the long coat he was putting on to expose the gun on his belt. Seeing the gun only made her more anxious. She looked into the dark road again.

"Doctor"?

"Yes Natasha"?

"This is the road we'll be taking to the woods". She pointed into the dark lonely road with her index finger.

"Ok, shall we"? He gestures with his right hand, and his usual never-fading smile on his face. They began walking into the dark lonely road.

Natasha was terrified more than ever. She kept looking at every corner of the dark path. As they moved further inside, it got quieter and darker. They could no longer hear people's voice and motor engine sounds from the other side of the road where they came from. When they turned back they couldn't see the other side of the road anymore. They were in the middle of darkness and silence with only just the sound of crickets and night owls. Something ran past them and Natasha screamed! Her voice echoed deep into the dark main road. The psychiatrist immediately turned on his smart phone's torch light and pointed to the direction the creature ran to. "It was just a rat". He whispered to her. He had some atom of fear in him, but he tried to hide it so that she wouldn't freak out. "Let's keep going". He says to her, and they continued walking again, going deeper and deeper into the dark-silent-lonely road with just the two of them in it.

They finally arrived at the junction of the route Natasha took to the streets of her neighborhood last night. "This is the place". She tells him. With great fear and trembling in her voice. They stood at the junction, looking into the deep dark route that had leaves and tall trees on both sides of it. The psychiatrist takes his pistol from his belt and holds it up firmly with both hands in front of him, taking the lead into the dark route of the woods while Natasha followed him behind. They walked cautiously until they got to the exact spot where she saw the giant vampire bats devouring people and drinking their blood. She turned to the woods and peered into it.

"Do you see anything"? The psychiatrist asked her.

"No I don't. Do you"? She asked. Looking around with the fear that they might just burst out of the trees and attack them.

"I don't see anything. Should I turn on the torchlight"? He asked with an unserious tone.

"No! You must be thinking that I just made up all of what I told you".

"But there's nothing here Natasha. It's just a very dark lonely place to be at the wrong time, that's why you hallucinated all of that yesterday". He says. Natasha really wanted to believe that what she saw yesterday were all just in her head, but they were so real. "You want us to go into the woods? Let's go in, come on, you'll find out better that those creatures don't exist". He tries to take her by the hand to lead her into the woods but she snatches her hand away in annoyance, arguing that that was the stupidest thing to do. He was being playful about it inorder to ease the tension in her, but he only made it worse. He walked into the woods alone to prove to her that it's safe and that there are no such things as giant vampire bats. But then, they heard scary loud sounds like laughters of a cackle of hyenas approaching. Then came the sound of many flapping wings.

"They are coming! They are coming! Run doctor, run"!! Natasha screamed as she ran away without waiting for the psychiatrist who was trying to get out of the dark woods with fear in him rising to hundred degrees. As he fell and tried to get up and continue running, two giant vampire bats pounced on him, looking into his eyes with their red eyes. He screamed with every strength in him and they reaped apart his head from his body and fought over it, tearing his body apart and leaking the blood that came out of it. While these were yet feasting on the psychiatrist's body, two other bats chased after Natasha. Natasha kept screaming and running down the dark route, heading to the streets of her neighborhood, with the hope that she will escape death like the way she did yesterday, but this time the giant bats were about to catch her from behind. With wings held up high in the air, one of them stretched forth its legs and tore her clothes with its long sharp claws, throwing her to the ground. She kept on screaming and screaming as she looked at the horrible creature in its red eyes. The other one was approaching with spead from behind to join in the feast. Natasha kept screaming as it opened its mouth to bite off her neck from her body with its sharp long teeth, but a loud gun shot was heard, and the vampire fell to the ground. An unseen person in the dark shot it dead. The other one was about pouncing on her when another round of gun shots threw it to the ground. Natasha passed out after seeing the second vampire fall down dead. The unknown person who shot them came out from the woods with his long gun hung behind him. He touched her chest to feel her heart beat, to know if she is still alive. She is. He carries her in his arms and walks hastily towards the end of the route.
