Cause And Affect

Dixey's POV

I was watching the tape with the officers. They had just rewound the tape and paused it. I looked at my eyes and smiled. They were red like they usually were when Bailey has control. I then relaxed my mussels, and you-know-who took control.

Bailey's POV

As soon as the officers backed away from the tape, I gave a dark evil laugh. They turned around slowly to face me. They both looked into my eyes and began to shake. I gave them a dark smile and glare, still laughing but harder now.

"You should run," I whispered. It was low and quiet, but they could still hear me.

Not a moment went by after I said that when they ran out of the room. Blush was screamed and Durland was crying.

Do you think that go ride of them?

You're the one who came up with the idea so it has to have worked.

You're just saying that! I could practically hear her blush.

Nonsense.

I looked out the door and saw my friends, and waved. They began to laugh and I joined them. I got up from the bed and was surprised to see that I didn't fall. I began to walk out of the room and joined my friends who stopped laughing.

"How the-," began Shyla.

"Long story Llama," I replied.

They all glared at me, and I just scoffed, "What? I save your lives and this is how you repay me?"

"Dixey was the one to ask if we were ok, Bailey. You just did the dirty work," Andrew glared.

"Ha! Dixey was still too weak to take control, I asked you if you were ok. This was why we fell when we turned back to you. Dixey had control but was still too weak to hold us up," I stated.

"You asked?" Amanda's eyes widened.

"Yeah! That's what I just said," I said.

Do you want to take over again?

Sure.

Andrew's POV

Before any of us could say anything else to Bailey, her eyes turned back to their bright blue. We all knew there were no more questions to be asked. Suddenly Dixey started to fall again.

"Hey, hey, hey!" I yelled.

I caught one side and Amanda caught the other. We held her up, and move to a chair in the waiting room.

"Dude, you ok?" asked Shyla.

"Fine. Just fine," Dixey said.

We all sat down by her when a group of policemen came in.

"Which one of you is named Dixey?" Asked one.

"Right here, I can't walk really well so I may need some help," Dixey said. It was like she knew this was coming.

"Up you go then, little girl," The same officer said.

"Shh," Dixey whispered to herself.

Little girl, I thought to myself. Dixey got up and took one step, she went down in a second, and the officer caught her.

"Sorry," She said.

"Don't worry about it, just come with us," replied the officer.

"Dixey, where are you going?" I asked her.

"Three kids injured by one girl? Please! Like they aren't going to question me at the station," she answered.

She went into the police car with the help of the officer. I looked over to see Blush and Durland crying. They looked up at Dixey and coward backward, huddling together. I looked back at Dixey through the window to see her eyes a different color. Great, I thought.

Bailey's POV

We finally got to the station. I pretended that I still needed help since it would have been a little weird having a girl that could barely stand one moment be able to run the next.

We entered the interrogation room, and I sat on the chair. There was the chair I sat in now, a table in front of me, and 2 chairs behind it. The officer who helped Dixey was in the room, and so was another.

"What's your name?" one of them asked.

"Tell me yours and I'll tell you mine," I stated.

"Smart kid. My name's officer Trigger, this here is my partner, Officer Powers. Now your name please,"

"My name's Ba- I mean Dixey," I said. The officers noticed my mistake and leaned in.

"What were you going to say?" asked Powers.

"What's it to you?" I replied.

"Listen, little girl, do you know why you're here?" Asked Trigger.

"Don't call me that," I said calmly.

"Call you what? Little girl?" Trigger asked confused.

"Yes," I said between my teeth.

"I won't if you answer our questions," replied Trigger.

"I'm here because I hurt three boys on my own. I'm also here because I scared the two officers out there having a cry off," I tilted my head in the direction of the crying officers, who were still crying.

I didn't think it was that bad, do you?

That wasn't even my best work. I could only imagine what they would be like if that happened.

"I see. Well, the officers out there informed us that everything we needed to know was on the tape. So, we watched it," started Trigger.

"From what we saw, we already knew your punishment. There's no need for a jury, considering that you're how old?" Finished Powers.

"14," I answered.

"You're too young for jail time, but not too young for the nuthouse. But before we tell you your punishment, we have a few more questions that need answering," said Powers.

"Ask away."

"Why did you do it?" Powers spoke, seemingly taking charge of the questioning.

"They hurt my friends and were going to hurt me. If you watched the tape, you could see that Gideon had a gun," I said blankly.

"Next question. Why were officer Durland and officer Blush crying?"

"Because I scared them. They watched the tape and saw something on there, so I thought that I could have a little fun with them," I said smiling.

"Do you know what they saw?"

"Nope."

"They were repeating one word over and over again. Eyes. Just that one word. Do you know why?" Trigger said.

I had to think a moment.

Bailey, you listen to me right here right now. Don't you dare even think about telling them about us, got it?

Understood.

"No, sorry I don't," I said.

"Well, it's time for your punishment," said Trigger with a smile.

Shyla's POV

We were all at Amanda's house looking over what we had for the crimes. Still, nothing came up.

"When will Dixey come back? She loves cracking codes," Andrew tossed down the newspaper in his hands.

"Not sure, but at least we know that she wants to help us," I replied.

Just then, the phone rang. Amanda went to answer it, spoke a few words, and hung up.

"The police want us to come and pick Dixey up. Her parents aren't answering their phones, so Dixey told them to call us," she said when she came back.

"Were really good friends to her, even Bailey," I complimented.

We went out of the door and walked down to the police station. When we got there, I held the door for Amanda and Andrew, then went in myself. We walked into what seemed like a small office. On the other side of the room, there was a desk with a man sitting on the other side of it. The man saw us, and we walked up to him. He had on a uniform, blue and gold, without a badge. I look everywhere on him for it but couldn't find it. The man noticed and laughed.

"I'm in training dear. I don't get my bag until next week when my training is over. I'm soon going to be known as officer Corduroy," He finished.

"Wait, Corduroy? Are you Wendy Corduroy's dad?" Amanda asked.

"Yep! I miss her, but that's why and how I'm going to finish top in my class. For my little angel," He was starting to tear up, and we didn't know what to do. He laughed and asked us what we needed.

"We're here to pick up Dixey," I said.

There was a loud thud behind him. I looked back behind him to see a door. After the thud, there was laughter.

"Come with me," Mr. Corduroy said at last.

He got up, and walked through the door, holding it open for us. When we got into the room, there was nothing but bars. On one side of the room said girls, the other said boys. The boy room was half full, the girls the same.

Everyone was on the floor, legs out in front of them. It seemed to me that they were trying to touch their toes, and failing horribly. I looked in front of me to see one person standing up and laughing.

"Come on, you can do better than that!" she yelled.

"Dixey!" we all shout.

She turned around and smiled, her eyes were back to their amazing bright blue, and were sparkling. She ran to us and gave us all a group huge. Just then, one of the girls trying to touch her toes tipped over, and Dixey let us go.

"You ok?" She asked. There was no reply. Dixey then walked over to the girl.

"Susan? Come on, up you go," Dixey said.

The one named Susan sat up and grabbed Dixey by her shirt. She pulled Dixey into the bars and looked her in the eye. Mr.Corduroy started to go to them, but Dixey held up her hand to stop him.

"Do you think you're scaring me?" she asked calmly.

"I would think so, yeah," Susan replied, tightening her grip.

"You're just trying to put all of your fear into someone else dear. I know how it feels to lose someone, but we can't go through life in denial," Dixey said. She held Susan's other hand and gave her a kind smile.

Susan relaxed her grip on Dixey's shirt. It was the first time I noticed her outfit change. She was wearing a black long sleeve shirt that was a V-neck, long black leggings, and knee-high boots, which were also black. It seemed to me that she was ready to go into battle.

I heard crying and saw that Susan was hugging Dixey now. Dixey's shoulder was wet with her tears and she was hugging Susan back.

"It's going to be alright. I promise," said Dixey.

"So Dixey, how are you able to touch your toes?" said a male prisoner.

"I've been dancing for 10 years Josh, it comes naturally," Dixey answered.

"Oh please, it's easy!" I shout. I stood straight and reached down to my toes. I reached to the middle of my leg, and when I came up, everyone in the jail cells stood chuckling.

"I can do better," said Amanda. She did the same and reached the same amount as I did.

everyone took this as a chance to show off how far they could go. I looked to Dixey to find her smiling to herself. God, I hate that kind of smile.

Andrew's POV

"Sorry guys, but you came all this way for nothing. I'm working my volunteer hours here," she told us.

"Volunteer hours?" I asked.

"My punishment for injuring the 3 idiots was that I needed to do the city a favor. So, I decided to make these criminals more fit!" she answered with a smile.

"So, you're getting off free?" Shyla questioned.

"Well, it's been put on my permanent record, but under self-defense," she still had that smile.

"Oh," we all said.

"By all means Dixey, go with your friends. Just come back tomorrow, ok?" Said Corduroy.

"Are you sure?" Dixey replied.

"Get out of here," he told her.

"Ok. Listen up, everyone. The private meetings will half to wait till tomorrow," she said to everyone in the jail cells.

"Why?" they all wine.

"It's time for me to go, guys!" Dixey chuckled.

"You're coming back tomorrow, promise?" said one of the guys.

"Yes Stanford, I promise," Dixey said.

She turned back to us and gave us a nod. We walked out with everyone yelling at Dixey to come back tomorrow. We finally made it out to the park again without saying a word.

"So," Dixey said at last, "which crime scene do you want to visit first."

"But you just got away with hurting three kids! Why would you want to commit another crime?" asked Amanda.

"Because, if you want to know more about the murders, then you need someone who can get you into them," she said. She then smiled at us, her eyes turning red again.
