I was at a loss for words as I looked into her eyes. I had no idea what had come over her to kiss me, and now I looked like an idiot, and feelings of embarrassment started to well up inside of me.
[Drop your arms.]
I did so, but my face was starting to feel hot, and I suddenly wanted to be anywhere but here.
I started to turn to leave, but then a small hand grabbed my arm.
"Don't go! I am sorry for kissing you! I don't know what came over me; you just aren't like anyone I have ever met! You don't try to pretend that you are something you're not, and you always act like yourself!" Ahna said to me in a rush, and I turned back to her slowly, taking deep breaths.
This had all turned out to be a lot more than I had intended when I came to lay down, and now she was talking to me like I was an imbecile. Why would I pretend to be something that I'm not or act like someone else?
[Most people aren't good people, but they want people to like them, so they will make up stories to boost themselves up.]
That is silly and makes no sense! So the fake person has to pretend to be someone else, but what happens the rest of the time?
What would happen if the person lied about being a good fighter?
[And therein lies the problem, but it doesn't seem to stop people from doing it until they are caught.]
Now that I thought about it, I knew many people that acted like that when it is clearly a lie. This was a new concept to me, and before, I would have just ignored it as I always did.
"I don't really know how to be any different than I am, and I wouldn't want to lie to you. Ahna, you are the first friend that I have ever had besides Yuri," I said as I turned to face Ahna; she let go of my arm.
"See?! You keep saying things like that!" Ahna said as her hands went to her face again to cover her mouth as she fidgeted.
For all that is sacred across the plains! What have I done now?!
[Hmm, I don't know what to tell you. It's not like you are going to stop being an honest guy, so maybe sneer a bit when you talk or make faces.]
Huh? Make faces?
[When you speak, you are exciting her feelings in a way she has never felt before. This is something new for the both of you, so it might just be best to change the subject. There is more training that you two can do together.]
"Listen, what if we just put away the feeling for a little bit? Maybe we can go outside and do some training? C… God had some things that we can do to help us get stronger," I said, almost slipping up with C6's name.
I felt ridiculous calling him God, but I had to do it for Ahna's sake, for now. In time I would tell her, but not yet; Ahna was in no condition right now to learn that we were not real.
[true, or maybe my world hasn't met their me yet? Who knows, but you can think and make choices far more complex than anyone could have ever coded. That makes you real to me, and that's all that counts.]
I guess that was true, but I was still getting used to the idea of this. Maybe I could use this as a building block instead of a deterrent.
"Okay, that's probably a good idea, but are you sure we should be going outside and using magic? You're the one that told me to be careful, and that might attract attention, right?" Ahna asked me as she walked over to the door.
[Who said anything about magic?]
"We aren't doing magic training?" I asked out loud so Ahna could hear me talking rather than always being inside my head.
"Really? What else does he say?" Ahna asked excitedly as she turned back to rush to me again.
[You're a glutton for pain. You are going to go for a run and do whatever Ahna tells you.]
"What do you mean to go for a run and do whatever Ahna tells me?" I said, and then I realized I had made a mistake, but the words were already out of my mouth.
[Hehe, you did this to yourself. Have fun; Ahna was top of her class, so you better keep up!]
"You are a horrible person!" I said out loud, and Ahna gasped.
I facepalmed, then I yelled out in pain as I felt a sharp pain in my shin. I hopped on one foot as I pulled my hand away from my face.
"What did you just say about my God? I was going to be nice, but let's get going!" Ahna fumed at me, and I swore I saw some red flash in her blue eyes.
[Well, have fun!]
Oh, this was just great! Just great!
This was the last time that I shared my thoughts out loud while talking about the revenant God! Looks like I was about to get a working over, and now my leg hurts.
"Listen," I started to say, but Ahna pointed at the door.
"Get! Outside, you and I are going for a run, and you had better keep up!" Ahna threatened, but I glared at her as I started to walk to the door.
"What are you going to do? Hit me with the big sword of yours?" I taunted as I passed her, but then my body convulsed.
Electricity coursed through my body, making my muscles spasm, but I was able to catch my balance.
What the hell, C6? Why didn't you stop her?
[I don't know what you're talking about? I registered you trying out some kind of new dance move, but no magic. The spell must be a low-level one; is there any damage?]
No, but I feel like you let that one through!
"No, but I will give you another poke with this charge rod! All the ladies in the capital have them. No man, other than my father, can handle a shock from this if I release it between their legs!" Ahna, she brandished a silver rod on a black box covered in yellow and grey.
I hurried to the door without reply, scared I was about to dig my grave deeper. This little princess was about to run me into the ground and then shock me back up!
