"Let's move," Bruce said standing up as he entered the car.

"That's quite handy attacking from afar." Suki said shaking her head, not sure how he managed to pull that shot off, "But aren't you too good at this?"

"Honey, this is how I make my living." Bruce said sarcastically, "I am not trying to compete with you in a race, am I?"

"Whatever." Suki rolled her eyes.

It was nighttime, as all of them gathered in Tej's garage together. With Brian and Roman's loot, they were celebrating the end of this whole debacle. Bruce was in quite a good mood too as he began drinking alongside them, after all, the three of them did have something in common.

They had earned their freedom.

"Never took you for a heavy drinker," Brian said handing him another bottle of beer.

"I have a high tolerance." Bruce shrugged, with his vitality it was hard getting drunk even if he wanted to, "So what are you going to do now?"

"I have been offered a job at the FBI. I think I will take up on that offer after a bit of vacation, how about you?" Brian asked,

"I don't know." Bruce said, "There's so much I want to do now that I am no longer obligated to work these jobs. But I just don't know where I should start."

"Ambition is hard to find, huh." Brian nodded, "If it's any consolation, I am in a conflict too. Just can't seem to figure out what's the right thing to do, you know."

"That was definitely a weird consolation, but I'll take it." Bruce said with a smile, "How about that agent? Roman said you've had quite the hots for her."

"Obviously he did," Brian shook his head looking over at Roman who was trying his best to flirt with the girls around him, "I don't know about that as well. If you know about me then you must have known about what happened to me that put me here in this position."

Bruce nodded as Brian continued, "Well to put it simply, I met a girl during that time and though it was all based on lies, I know for a fact that those feelings were real, but with the way things are I can't just go all rom-com and see her again as if nothing ever happened. What about you and Suki?"

Bruce sighed as he looked at Suki who was waving at him from afar as their eyes met. Even when she was with a whole crowd of her girlfriends she still stood out.

Her beautiful smile, which filled him with warmth little by little was growing on him, but thinking back at what Perkins said, he couldn't help but acknowledge that it was true.

For the first time, he wished for a life without his system, a normal life where he could be together with her but that was just what it was, a thought.

Even someone like him could tell that this world was dangerous and these threats to seem to keep growing. And with the system, he would be stupid to just sit there and not do anything while he could get killed at any moment.

The only way to go was forward to become stronger, and that path was going to be the furthest thing from normal.

"I guess, I don't know about that too," Bruce said with a bitter smile.

"Seems like we've got a lot of figuring out to do, huh." Brian nodded at him as they shook each other's hand, "I'll see you around then."

Bruce smiled, as he figured Brian was a complete weirdo. Unlike the usual cops who only looked over at things from a surface, Brian had a tendency to look for the good in people and try to reason why someone would do things the way they did.

Bruce didn't know if it was a good thing, but he liked Brian's personality. If both of them had normal lives they could've been friends but still, he was pleased to have known him.

As Bruce was lost in his thoughts, a call woke him up from his daze. As he got out of the garage, towards the black SUV that was waiting for him,

"Cipher."

"Bruce,"

Bruce greeted the blonde woman with those cold blue eyes as without wasting any of their time, he pulled out the hard drive from his pocket and gave it to her.

Cipher took the drive and inserted it into the laptop that she had on standby as she read through the files with a satisfied nod, "You passed the test!"

"Yay!" Bruce said with a long drawn out sarcastic cheer,

"Hey, I only ordered for the assassins to be low level to help you so you don't have any reason to hold it against me." Cipher shrugged, "Besides whatever Perkins had in her mind, it's not my fault. And to show my sincerity, I am here in person, aren't I?"

"I know how crazy in the head she can be... for money, but not to get herself a new toy." Bruce said as he implied what he had suspected, "Unless someone pushed her to that extent."

"That's a good theory." Cipher said, "Don't tell me you're the boring type."

"Not at all," Bruce shook his head as it was clear all of it was a game to Cipher and nothing more, "So what is your special favor that you have to make me go through all this shit, just to test me."

"When it's time, you'll be the first to know," Cipher said, "So till then, enjoy your freedom, oh and here's your reward."

Cipher handed him a suitcase, as he looked over the content not sure whether to be happy or be worried.

"Don't overthink it." She said, "I treat people who work for me quite well,"

"Is that why there are three snipers pointed at me?" Bruce asked as he looked over towards the bushes far away, "You guys should really be more aware of reflection!"

"You see, I can tell that you're the type to fend only for yourself." Bruce turned back towards her, "You don't seem too much of a team player."

Cipher chuckled changing the topic, "Did you like my gun?"

"Oh, that? it's decent enough, I guess." Bruce said shrugging not mentioning the thing she likely wanted to hear, "So this is it then?"

"Yeah! I'll contact you when it's time," Cipher nodded as she got back into her car, "Farewell, then Bruce."

"One last thing!" Bruce said, "Why did I pass while Perkins failed?"
