Robbery

Within the Wolfden city slums the gambling hall was closing up for the night after a successful and profitable day.

The boss sat at his desk going over the gain over the past few weeks and let out a tired yawn.

Like any usual day within the gambling hall since he took over it had become a habit to calculate his gains and losses but also let his subordinates know who is in charge of the group.

Ever since he began practicing the blood sects qi art and martial arts he began to feel more energetic and more confident in himself like he was on the top of the world.

His subordinates had went to sleep to recharge for the next day but he stayed up to look over the numbers detailing the wealth he had accumulated with eyes full of greed.

All of his foul actions and crimes did help to grow his own wealth but it came at a cost, his trusted subordinates and friends were no more because ever since he took over he began to distrust everyone.

As someone who betrayed his boss naturally in the back of his mind there would be the thought that one day the same thing could happen to him so he was a lot harsher and less friendly to the men that he was close with, some were even lost because the purge just because of differences of opinions.

Ever since the purge of untrustworthy subordinates and his decision to kill the slaves within the dungeon there had not been many others captured.

Suddenly he felt a little odd…

He should not feel tired and yet he just yawned, he hadn't felt that way for some time since he began to practice the blood sects martial arts and today he did not do much to tire himself out.

Suddenly he revealed a look of confusion on his face and placed his palm on his desk to help him push himself up to stand up.

As he was able to stand up his body wobbled powerlessly and hit his head on the side of the desk and fell unconscious.

Slowly his body began to shrivel up like a mummy and then he stopped breathing.

Similar incidents happened to everyone who was deeply connected to the gambling hall and many people died through the night.

One of the people who died was also the man who had been set free by Ki a week ago and was given a task to complete, during his death his eyes revealed his despair and the betrayal he felt.

Ki never intended to forgive him and those from the gambling hall for their involvement in the invasion of the village so she made sure that everyone would die and be of use to her disciples Gu worms growth.

After Evie instructed her caterpillar Gu worm, it quickly sent a signal to the vitality Gu worms placed in the bodies of those within those connected to the gambling hall.

Several of Ki's people had monitored everyone within the gambling hall as ordered by the letter she left behind the restaurant and when the men and women began to die during the night they quickly took action.

The homes of those involved were raided and anything valuable was stolen, the gambling hall was also raided and the secret passage was found too.

All of the groups wealth and documents on places they had stored jewels or anything else worth money had been taken.

After silently raiding all of the wealth the group left behind the bodies and set fire to the buildings to destroy traces of themselves and any traces of their deaths being linked to the Gu worms.

They also added several knife or sword wounds on the bodies before burning them to add extra evidence to lead others from discovering the true cause of death.

The city lord previously had his hands full with Ki's matters and dealing with everything else but suddenly several fires broke out within the slum area woke him up from his deep sleep after being greatly fatigued.

Several guards and his trusted advisors rushed to gather more people to put out the fires and deal with the unrest within the city.

Meanwhile Evie, Miranda and Ki enjoyed a peaceful sleep within the Bifta family home while some of the Bifta family assisted with dealing with the aftermath.

Those who set the fires and stole everything of value also put to sleep any prisoners or slaves within the gambling hall and lay their bodies out on the street so that they would be safe but not be able to identify their saviours.

The final conclusion was reached after going over the evidence after the fires were put out.

The verdict was that it was either an attack from a rival gang or it was done in order to save those who had suffered under the gambling halls inhumane acts.

However there was still the act of stealing anything of value which pointed more towards a rival gang as they wished to gain everything their enemies had and releasing the slaves was merely an afterthought.

Within the next few days many valuables began to appear within a black market auction house along with several lands or house deeds that the gambling hall had swindled from people but the seller remained anonymous and did not reveal their appearance so it was a dead end once again.

By then Ki had already left the city and headed back to the village and sat in a room facing Marilyn once more.
