Blood Sect Base #5

After waiting a while and helping to reduce the effects of the poison in the guard captains body, Ki lit some smelling salts and placed them under his nose.

The guard captain woke up very quickly after being exposed to them and showed a look of confusion.

He was still bound and could not yet use his the qi in his body, he was in a helpless state that put him at the mercy of the masked people before him.

Ki approached him and was now fully covered up again. "You are finally awake.."

She had considered many things during this short break and it was decided to give him a chance.

The guard captain replied while instantly putting up a wall between them treating her as an enemy. "What is it? What do you want from me? Why would you target me?"

However as Ki had no time to argue or answer her questions one at a time so explained as much as she could. "First listen to my words. We have saved your life but it may very well be in danger so answer me. Do you have anyone close enough to you that could be targeted as an act of revenge? If so you need to get them right away and go to the specified location until you are found and contacted. You will be given a new identity and role to go into hiding."

The guard captain still was not convinced. "How can I trust you? Where is my wife and child? Where is Gin? What is happening?"

The last memory he had was returning home so he feared that his wife, child and friend had been captured too, he was much too loyal and trusting to doubt his friends involvement even if someone told him the truth.

However Ki simply stated. "You have been targeted for your blood as you have a high vitality because of the realm of martial arts you are at currently. The Blood Sect has targeted you and others, your family, friends and subordinates may have betrayed you to get you into the situation. I know it is hard to believe but that is the complete truth, there was one dead older male who should be a witness or the person who betrayed you within their base so I suspect it must be someone you know. Right now is a time that is critical for your and your closest peoples lives, you must follow my instructions carefully or you and others close to you will face the wrath of them. First you must return home and not inform anyone of what has happened to you. You simply took a trip outside the walls and lost some time, quickly pack some things and leave with a select few people. Next you will leave your city with an excuse of visiting a relative or friend with the family. After that head straight to Wolfden City and arrive at this address. There you should be able to hide out safely until someone comes to arrange everything."

In order to carefully arrange others a new life, some hostels or homes were purchased and opened up to be used by anyone under the protection of Ki and the organisations under her.

There would always be casualties of war that requested aid for their family because their enemies may target them after their death or when they went missing, if they were a part of Ki's organisation or connected to the events unfolding like now, she was able to provide a safe haven where they could hide out and then make arrangements to start anew.

The guard captain revealed a look of fear upon hearing of the Blood Sect. "How can I trust your words?"

He did not wish to believe it but if it was true then his family would be in danger.

If this person was willing to let him go so easily then what was the point in capturing him unless it was some sort if trick.

He could feel that the person opposite him did not seem like someone to do something so meaningless.

Ki shook her head and looked down at him. "You do not need to trust. Just follow what I have said if you wish to survive along with your family. If you betray me and spread any word of what happened today then you will not just make me a target of those people but you will also expose yourself so I trust you will not be so foolish. For obvious reasons I will not reveal my name or background to you so all you would be doing would be putting yourself in danger for no reason. If you wish to live, do everything I have told you without failure. You may have to go into hiding for some time but it is better than enduring a large sects wrath and hidden attacks upon your family. If they can get to you once, they can do it again."

The guard captain was silent and in deep thought until he looked up again. "Fine, you have convinced me but what about the poison?"

He could feel that his qi was suppressed and it must have a connection to something he ate or drank.

His last actions and memories before this were of drinking his friends concoction to help sober him up so as much as he wished not to doubt him, he still had to accept that his friend poisoned him and wished to turn him over to those people.

Ki calmly responded. "It should wear off properly in a couple of hours so it should have no effect when you have left the city to travel with your family. Let me remind you that my resources are large and if I can find out about this kind of operation, it would be very easy to find you and end your life if you you try to run away or think of betraying me. Do not get any funny ideas just because you may have regained your strength later, I am putting my trust that you will not betray me so do not break that trust as you should be aware that it would be much easier if I just end your life here to avoid any additional troubles."

The guard captain could tell that her words were serious so responded. "I will do as you say."

He had to admit that it was actually in the other parties best interests to spare him, if such a person had really freed him from the Blood Sect who had targeted him then he could not just betray that trust placed in him.

Little did he know that he had been carefully investigated, even deep enough to know about his habits and temperament.

He was not the type to betray someone who had become his benefactor so the words spoken was just to give him a picture of what had happened, what should happen next and what would happen should he think of betraying her.

Number four returned after searching the area and approached Ki. "I have found the carriage that had been abandoned, it seems like it had been done quickly so it was not that well hidden and near by. The horses were also growing restless so were starting to attract wild animals, we were lucky enough to find them in time."

Ki nodded and placed her hands behind her back. "Now you have a way to get back, be careful on your way back not to die from any bandit attacks while your strength has not returned.. your body should be enough to deal with some of it."

A little time had passed and the carriage had been moved to the road nearby where the group had moved towards with the restrained guard captain.

Rashida removed his shackles and allowed him his freedom and then backed away slowly.

The guard captain looked back with a complicated look on his face. "Thank you."

Ki calmly watched him get on the carriage and ride down the road towards his home. "Onto the next location."

Rashida looked at the departing carriage and asked. "Are you certain we can allow witnesses to be released?"

Ki shook her head. "He is not truly released, he just believes he has been. He has been given enough hints to allow him to make the eight choices. I have studied him during the time I explained everything and have concluded that he would not betray so easily. If he does betray then there are things put in place to ensure he will be found again and be dealt with without arousing suspicion… as for the others in the list we have to not judge just from the information provided but also from how they react to their new reality."

Rashida nodded. "I see.. so when will I get the chance to fight a strong opponent?"

Ki smirked. "It depends on the enemies numbers and if they have someone with a higher realm with them. I will allow it if you wish to fight the first people but you must end it quickly to reduce our burden."
