Mercenary Leader #2

Another background, another captive target of the Unrestrained realm strength, many resources put forward and lots of manpower put towards the completion of the important mission.

Some more trustworthy groups would be allowed to bring in recruits during the task while others would be denied the right to because it may disrupt the mission if they became careless and let someone escape.

It all depended on the leaders level of trust that they had received from rom those above and their personality.

Not everyone would be so willing to share what they had with others and welcome more into what they were part of.

Some wished to kill the recruits to save them from experiencing the same as they had upon entering, others wished to just torture and hurt others while a select few would bring in others to build their own power or because they took pity upon those people clueless people who had signed away their freedom.

The two men were already cruel individuals with a long past of backstabbing their allies so although they were not so clear on the situation within the sect, they would either have a hard time fitting in and being trusted by others within who knew of their true nature or they would fit in with the most cruel people within.

They may have mistresses and the odd lady they visit in a brothel from time to time but they have no true personal connections and ties that would need to be cleaned up afterwards.

Illegitimate children.. if they had any, were not acknowledged by them so there was not even a need to look them up since there was not even the slightest connection between them.

This made them the perfect targets among the mercenary group and they also had a very high position that allowed them to be close enough to the leader to act against him.

Like the others, someone was targeted who was close enough to the target but had some hidden resentment, greed or envy towards the target or was in a position to alter some food or drinks and then get them out of the city without anyone being suspicious.

It was not suspicious for a city guard to take a walk around the city and its outsides to survey any threats.

It was not suspicious for a family to leave the town to take a trip somewhere.

It was also not suspicious for a mercenary group to suddenly make a trip out of the walls at random times to complete a new task that is requesting urgent aid.

Thanks to the chaos created by the flood, even less guards and doormen would pay so much attention to these things and not place much importance or suspicion on what is happening behind the scenes.

Although the Blood Sect could not predict such a thing happening, they still did not miss their chance to take full advantage of the situation.

Inside the base two dead bodies were chained up and being drained while the group celebrated with a cup of the blood.

The group that had approached them and turned them against their leader no longer found them to be of use after they had completed their mission.

They were already in their late forties and had lacking talents that only let them be able to reached the level of a first rate and peak martial artists even after they had worked had during their youth when they had the most potential within them.

Now that they were older, most of their potential had been used up and even with practicing blood qi arts, their future was somewhat limited even if they could survive within the sect.

An early Unrestrained realm was mixed among the twelve other members of the blood sect that had been allowed to participate in the mission with them while one two remained by each of the doors within the passageway.

Outside of the base, Ki found the entrance and played the same trick as the first time she had fooled them but this time she had gained entry into the passageway.

Upon getting closer to the person standing close to the other door to the main room, she threw several throwing knives towards the chest and head of the person at the door.

While doing so, she removed a dagger with her other hand and silently stabbed the other in the back of the neck.

After collecting the blood and not letting it all go to waste, she walked back towards the entrance and poked her head out. "Wait on standby. Do not allow any to exit and prepare the puppets. If you wish to provide extra assistance, use the blood mystic arts from behind the door and use the sight of your puppets to guide your attacks."

Many corpse puppets followed her into the room and closed the door behind her.

She took out several cylinders and lit them upon getting closer to the bases main door and opened it.

She threw several of the cylinders into the room and allowed the corpse puppets to enter quickly before closed the door shutting it tightly.

Before anyone within could respond chaos broke out within the main room.

Within the room, large amounts of poisonous smoke began to spread around the room as the poisonous herb concoction was burned within the cylinders.

The thicker it became and the more that it spread, the more panicked those people inside became.

There was also the sudden surprise attack from the corpse puppets that did not allow them enough time to draw their weapons.

Many of them were forced to grapple with or punch them but their fists could hardly cause damage the tough bodies much less stop them.

The poison also spread onto them as they made contact with the corpse puppets bodies so even more chaos was spread in those first moments that disrupted their means of survival.

Compared to the previous battle with an Unrestrained powerhouse, the corpse puppets were able to adapt to the opponents and Ki's was able to handle him much easier because of there being less restrictions on this task.

During the previous battles, tactics had been used to ensure the safety of the captives but during this battle more destructive and ruthless methods could be used.

Poison could be spread within the room without care for who it infects, even the air that remains within the room will be affected.

Even an Unrestrained powerhouse has to breathe to live even if they can protect themselves by solidifying their qi, upon breathing in the air they would be exposing themselves to the poison that had spread within the room.

The corpse puppets attacking them along with their actions of blocking the door made them unable to escape unless they risked becoming poisoned just to pass through by either coming into contact with the poisonous smoke or the corpse puppets upon trying to escape.

Many desperate attempts followed but many were swiftly killed as Ki waited for the final outcome while watching through the eyes of her own corpse puppet.

A final desperate attempt followed as the weakened Unrestrained realm among the group looked on in desperation and took out a pill from within his robe.

Just as he consumed it, something strange took place within the room…

All of the blood began to gather together and attack him.

The moment he had gained his new found strength that would allow him to avenge himself after escaping suddenly seemed so helpless as the blood crashed into his body and trapped him within.

All he could do was flail around helplessly with his strength to break free but it was all useless…

He was drowning and exposed to the many poisons within the room that soon became part of the blood and slowly made its way past his defences.

The body was quickly broken down during his final struggles.

The door opened and the corpse puppets quickly exited the room as the blood followed behind and entered Ki's body.

Thanks to the poison immunity she had gained along with her Silkworm Gu and the poison qi arts that she practiced, she could afford to be a little reckless upon letting the poisonous blood enter her body.

If the poison was not helpful towards boosting her noxious qi and was slightly harmful to her own body then it could be used to build up a stronger immunity against stronger poisons or it could be fed to her silkworm to make it grow stronger and produce even more high quality silk.
