Grandmother’s worries #1

Even if the family did have an understanding with each other, during the time alone Agnes still found the time to talk to her granddaughter. "So how was your trip? Did you make many gains? Did you suffer any harm?"

Ki looked at her grandmother with a warm smile and replied. "I am good, just a little tired and in need of a good rest. We gained quite a large advantage this time but it cannot be used until later."

Now was not the time to make use of the power gained because it was still small.

Even if she ordered around unrestrained realm martial artists so casually when using her Gu worms to threaten their lives, she would lose their trust in her and not be so willing so put their lives on the line so easily for her.

She needed a better approach where she could integrate them with her lands, give them purpose and then wait for her own strength to grow to a high level that they would have no choice but to respect and follow her.

Saving their lives and giving them a new life was just the beginning and she had to be careful in how she would proceed in the future.

The people that she had saved may have their own power and influences behind them in some way or support many others under them but when compared with other large influences, even together they are very small and weak.

More time was needed to allow them to grow further along with herself and those who follow her.

Agnes smiled. "That is good, so.. what are your plans for now?"

Ki was deep in thought and then answered. "To rest, to train and to deal with the aftermath. I have gained much insight during my trip so I need to spend some time fully comprehending it all. I need to make arrangements for others too but for now I must focus on the future plans too."

Many events will take place following her actions and many other things will happen in various places that she cannot predict so accurately.

The movements of the Devil Sect and Unorthodox Alliance would be the least predictable but the Blood Sect and the Martial Alliance were always easier for her to read and predict.

The Martial Alliance wished to conserve their power during this time so that they all could handle the shift of power within the capital with the new Emperor gaining more power and influence.

Part of the reason why the flood had caused so much of a disaster in her previous life was because the Capital abandoned those outside their large walls leaving many to fend for themselves.

This allowed the other influences to act as they pleased and gain even more power, their actions were basically abandoning those outside the walls and only looking after their own people.

The Devil Sect would make some appearances and cause even more panic and mayhem but where they appeared, no witnesses remained and their motives were never known to others.

The Unorthodox Alliance was made up of those who had grudges with the Martial Alliance, their affiliated families or sects and those that did not fit in with their beliefs and laws.

Some would take this as an opportunity to take from others and cause more trouble but those much smarter would watch the chaos and try to find some way to profit from it.

Ki thought about the past of her previous life and tried to figure out what could happen. 'If I remember correctly, many families rose up after surviving the chaos and publicly attacked the Martial Alliance. This attack succeeded in putting a stain on their reputation for a long time and reducing their overall support. Afterwards they sent out relief teams to the next disasters to correct their mistake but there was still much corruption and failure that came from within those groups.'

This could be no coincidence and many of those families must have some connection to the Unorthodox Alliance or others to have the courage to call out their rulers so blatantly without fear of losing their lives.

Although some families quietly disappeared, some must have been protected by the Unorthodox Alliance.

Many others would find themselves joining the Unorthodox Alliance or another influence right after or during the flood incident because of their hatred towards the Martial Alliance and how they had been abandoned by them.

Agnes looked at her granddaughter who was deep in thought. "Go get some rest. You must be really tired."

Ki responded with a nod. "Um."

After she left, Agnes looked at the door where her granddaughter had disappeared through and sighed. "Still.. I cannot get through to her or see through that child anymore. The child is too stubborn and takes so much upon herself."

She had tried to discover her granddaughter's greatest secrets many times and see deep into her secrecy and some of the lies she had told to her family but she was again unsuccessful.

There was a limit to what she could find out since those loyal to Ki and were involved with her deeper secrets were very tight lipped.

The path she had taken was not one she would have willingly chosen but after being lead down the path by her granddaughter, she had to accept so that she could provide the family further support during their most difficult times or when they were about to rise.

She could not be a retired old lady who could no longer handle the household affairs and the family business.
