Chapter 12

Chapter 12

First Time Alone

Good thing is was a Saturday. As we didn't need to be anywhere, I was packing a bag for tonight even though it was my house we were going to, but to make sure we don't get caught out in a lie, I had to. I put my bag down as my phone stared to ring.

I didn't look when I answered it

"Hello?"

"I ONLY SAW YOUR TEXT NOW! I AM GOING ON A DATE TONIGHT?! YOU KNOW I AM TERRIBLE ON DATES! THATS WHY I DON'T GO ON THEM!"

I pulled the phone away from my ear as Maddie continued to scream.

"Hello to you to, yes, your going on a date and I know but this girl is just right for you! She is your type."

"Like you know my type."

"Too hyper and good in bed but has a soft side? Ring any bells? That is the only girls you went for in high school and college. So, I think I do know your type. Weird type since your the total opposite."

"Shut it, what do I wear? What where we going? Where am I meeting her? All you said is I have a date."

"Well, her name is Sandra, wear anything casual, she isn't the dressy type, I don't know she didn't say and at a restaurant, your not going in, it is just where you'll meet her."

"Where did you meet her and how do you know her?"

"Through Avery, she's nice as well as a manager at a bookstore, so, hippie hyper."

I could hear her confusion through the phone

"IS she going to kill me?"

"No, you'll probably kill her but you'll be doing everyone a favor."

I went to get my things, as we needed to leave.

"Is she really good in bed?"

"GOODBYE MADDIE! ENJOY YOUR DATE!" I said as I heard her scream wiat but I put the phone down, sighing I walked to Avery's room.

I walked in to see her sleeping, I smiled at her, she looked cut but I needed to wake her before Sandra did. She was on her way. The plan was, as soon as we see Maddie leave the house to meet Sandra at the place they were going to have their date, Avery and I would run into the house well Sandra drives off, then tomorrow, we get a taxi back and say Sandra had work. The plan wasn't bad but I just hope because of how simple it was, that nothing bad would happen.

I went to wake Avery, I moved to the side of the bed she was facing, I leaned down and gently nudged her, she didn't move, I frowned, I did it again, nothing, I did it a bit harder, nothing. I checked if she was breathing, she wasn't. I stared to panic.

"Avery. Avery wake up." I said as I pushed her really hard, which made her wake up. She sat up, startled as I must have given her a fright.

"What's wrong? Is Sandra here yet?" She asked rubbed her face, she looked lost.

"Uh, she's on her way, she should be here by now, I wanted- you weren't breathing."

"What?"

"You weren't breathing Avery, maybe we shouldn't do this plan, what if this happens-

"It's fine, it wont happen again…I'm fine, ok?"

I let out a breath, she looked like she didn't know where she was. Dr. Osborn said that she might start to act weird and act like this when she is getting closer, it means her body is getting ready to die. He explained it in a different way but I know thats what he meant by it.

Avery moved to get her backpack as I went to get my bag, we walked to the front, I could hear talking, I think Sandra-

"AVERY! JAMIE!" We both we put into to a big hug

"Hi, your in a good mood."

"YEP! A, you look tired, are you ok?" Sandra noticed it to as well as Avery's parents

"I am fine! Just woke up from a small nap, is all, lets go!" She said as she went to say goodbye to her parents. We went to the door as went down, this was the first time I wasn't driving my car, felt weird, we got to Sandra's car as we drove to my place. Avery was very quiet the whole way there, I really wonder what's wrong? We made it just in time because I saw Maddie's car drive off in a speed, where the hell is Sandra taking her.

"What are your plans with my sister?"

"Nothing bad. We are going to spend time in Times Square all night then see what happens, I'll let you know, now get out! DON"T MAKE ME AN AUNT!" Sandra said as she drove off, Avery laughing at the joke, she held my hand as we walked up to open up. I let her in as we set our things down, the power went out. I flipped the switch a few times, not again. The place is old so power outage's are a usual thing, I sighed knowing I only had 2 candles which Maddie used.

"So, bad news."

"No power? That's new for me."

"You've never in a blackout?"

"No, we always had backup power, this is a first, I hope you have candles."

"Yes and no." I went to get them as I lit them up, it made the living room dim with light, I went to get some blankets and pillows as I made a bed on the floor in the living room, moving the couch a bit back to make room, Avery stood by the kitchen table, watching me, I looked at her and smiled as I held my hand out, she came into my arms as we stood there, holding each other for a bit.

We were alone, first time we had somewhere to ourselves, I mean we are at her place alone but this time we are ALONE. I hadn't thought of this.

"What are we going to eat because Maddie will notice if food is missing."

"We can say we ate it because I wanted to see how your place looked and well you decided to steal some of the food." Avery suggested to me as I nodded going to see what she had to and what Avery could eat. There was left over pizza, and Chinese. Maddie hates cooking because she doesn't know how to. I took the pizza out, warmed it up and took some of Maddie's soda and sat down with Avery.

We sat and ate, laughing at what Maddie and Sandra could be doing right now.

"I bet San is driving her up the wall." Avery said putting her pizza down.

"Or Maddie is, you never know. I hope the both get laid, I think they need it."

"Maybe Maddie will loosen up and Sandra will calm down, I heard sex does wonderful things, and I heard San good in bed so, Maddie's in for a treat if they do." I laughed

"I don't want to think of my sister and our friend doing it thank you."

"Heh, well if I know Sandra, they are probably busy right now!"

"EW EW NO!"

I covered my eyes are Avery started to laugh.

"Avery?"

"Yes?"

"How did you find out you had cancer?"

"Well, I was about 7, my parents were leaving the following week for holiday, and I was getting sick, they were going to cancel but my Aunt said she will look after me. Two days before they left I started to act as if I was dying, then later that night I was getting sick, like blood sick, I was taken to the hospital, they ran tests on me and I had to stay there for a dew days, then they came to us with bad news, I have Metastasis, and it was bad. They said I might not make it that night, but by some chance I did. I was all over the news as my parents were well known in Canada at the time then when we moved her I got more tests, and more chemo, and more pills but I kept getting sicker and sicker. I never really got better, just got closer and closer to death, but I knew I was going to die, just thought it would have been a long time ago. I'm sacred to die."

I stared at her as she spoke, the candle light glowing over her face.

"I never knew how bad it was going to get but it sucks how my life is turning around when I know by end of September I'll be dead. But it is true what they say."

"What?"

"'Pain. It really does kill you in the end.'"

"Your stronger than you think."

"Your just saying that."

"I'm not. You really are so strong, I have never seen someone with cancer fight to get up like you do when I know it is the hardest part of your day. It's one of the reasons I love you."

She smiled as I said that, moving the things away from us as she moved towards me,

"I love you too." She whispered as she leaned in to kiss me. She kissed me gently as I moved my hands to hold her face carefully. This felt different, this kiss meant more than it was supposed to, we pulled back after a minute as she moved to sit on my lap, I placed my hands on her waist as she leaned in again to kiss me, she moved her hands around my neck as I rubbed up and down her legs. She pulled away from me.

"We don't have to." I whispered

"I want to."

"Are you sure?"

She leaned back, taking her shirt off as I took in her body, I have seen her with out a shirt but this time was different. She moved her hands back around my neck.

"Yes." she leaned in to kiss me as I moved to the floor so we could lay down, I moved between her legs, I was trying not to hurt her, she then moved her hands to the bottom of my shirt. I stood to my knees to take my shirt off, leaning back down to kiss her. Her hands were in my hair as my hands moved down her body, I went to kiss her neck, her skin is warm, soft, as she made a soft gasp as the contact, pulling me closer.

We were fully undressed as she was covering herself, I moved her hands away from her body.

"Your beautiful."

"I'm small." She laughed as i smiled at her

"Don't be afraid, its just me."

"I know."

The city was alive that night, but the house was quiet, all that could really be heard was Avery's soft gasps, passion filled the air, intoxicating it. Honestly, the feeling is hard to describe, I have never felt this close, connected with anyone I have been with. I felt truly loved by her in this moment, she loved me so much to let me take something so special.

It was about 1am, the house was dark as the candles had burnt out, we lay under a blanket covering our naked bodies from the cold. Avery lay on my chest as my on hand was brushing up her back, as the other Avery was playing with, the drew cicles on the palm. Soft breathing, peace and quiet, I was calm. I looked down as Avery looked at me with a small smile, giving me a soft kiss.

"Thank you for trusting me."

"Thank you for the amazing night."

"You know, next time we argue-

"I know what you are going to say and shut up!"

"HEY I TOOK YOUR VIRGINITY!" Avery smacked me lightly as I laughed at her, she moved to hide her head in my neck, her breath tickling my me as she gave me a kiss.

"Jamie?"

"Yes?"

"Are we together now?"

"We were from the moment we kissed."

"Oh but we never asked each other."

"Avery Mack, do you want to be mine?"

"Yes, Jamie Scott, I do." I smiled as she lifted her head to kiss my cheek, moving back to lay in my neck.

"Goodnight."

"Goodnight."
