NewLegacy (4)

How does one prepare for said challenges? No idea but our first goal was to get the two required gaming pods for myself and Deck. I was just working on trying to figure out a way to get a pod from several miles away when a message appeared for me on the forums. Decks phone also beeped.

I opened it,

Dear RoyalBlue,

We know these are trying times for everyone involved. As a top rated player or player of a top rated guild we are inviting you to a government facility specially being set up for this unique case.

If you are interested please respond with your location or a place to be picked up from. We will ensure your safe travel.

Special note: RoyalBlue as a solo player we would like to speak to you personally about the formation of a guild. We promise to make it well worth your while.

Sincerely,

Abby Westfall

Special Services

I could of snorted with laughter already, government idiots. Sure cause safe travel could be given. Snide comments filled my brain as i read.

I glanced at Deck's screen to see a similar message except it specified his guild on it.

He looked up at me "What do you think?" he asked.

I thought for a moment.

"We don't have a way to get to a pod without their help currently. But I also don't want to deal with others. Who knows what they will demand from us. It's like forceful enlistment in the army." I wasn't a fan. "I'm going to make a reply."

I started typing my own list of demands.

Hello Abby,

Per your earlier request I have no interest in moving to a government facility. That said myself and a friend could use some help receiving our pods. If you deliver us two pods I will consider your guild formation under certain conditions.

From

RoyalBlue

I got a reply almost immediately.

Of course we are more than happy to negotiate. For the guild we wish to simply add five of our own members to a guild for research and development. Please form a guild called Backup and they will ask for join permissions. As long as you don't interfere with them you may run the rest of the guild as you see fit. Could you give us an address for the pods?

Hmm they were smarter than I gave them credit.

Very well I will form a guild however I am not calling it Backup. You may leave the pods at 423 SunnyPark.

I listed a different apartment that was currently empty. I thought for a moment then formed the guild in the game webportal. Guild: LoneWolves.

After that I typed a quick message on the message board.

[LoneWolves now allowing solo players for the Mango challenges. This is not a standard guild, do not join if you want a guild. We are solo players. Open to top 100 players since spots are limited.]

To mu surprise I immediately got a join request that wasn't the government lackys.

"Firefly" I mumbled. I knew her well. Another solo player like myself we had teamed up a few times before when dungeons didn't allow solo play. I accepted her and placed her as my vice leader. The government players joined not long after. NightSong seemed to be the government group's leader.

Now to just accept any other crazy lunatics who actually want in on this nightmare.

If no one else joined it would also be fine since we were not team players anyway. Anyone in my guild would have to be capable of completely looking after themselves.

I scrolled through the guild functions. I had to create role's and role levels huh? I renamed the leader position as BlueWolf and the vice as RedWolf. Now about those government people. BlackWolves, they were like Blackops or something right? I'll stick them at the bottom of the food chain but also only I can affect them. Perfect now I can just ignore them.

Let's see did we even need more positions like really? Whatever I'll just call everyone else GreyWolves and WhiteWolves. Grey would be standard alone members and White would be ones who wanted some guild interaction like trades.

To my surprise several other crazies did apparently want to join. Upon their request I asked if they wanted pure solo or if they wanted some trade and team up requests.

By the end of the week my guild was a pack and we were ready for some solo combat. Why had I never thought of a solo guild before? This would be great for getting rid of all those annoying guild join up requests.

That was when the first challenge was issued and I wanted to groan. These challenges didn't seem to be made for solo players.

[Challenge 1: Reality Challenge: All guilds must meet up in real life. Then do a team bonding activity. Activity: Design guild uniforms.]

I hissed. Deck gave me a motivational speech, I think, then raced off to his guild. Unlike the SnowLeopards who were mostly based in the government facility the solo guild was all over. Seems the government facility did have some benefits.

I set a location at a high rise building's roof that was the closest to all of us. Then started to travel while being careful of murderous cars. A lot of the darker sides of human nature were starting to appear. I watched a thief steal a tv from a shop as I climbed to a roof.

I wasn't the first to arrive since I was pretty far out. Like my game name I was wearing all royal blue colored clothing and gloves, I also left my hood up. Three other members wearing mostly hoddies were spread out on the roof.

I leapt from my current roof to the high rise and scanned over the members. Firefly, PurpleLily and DoubleEffect. We were still missing several ShadowLance and MidnightFury arived a short while later. Then a dark vehicle arrived and a second later the five government wolves joined us. Total of 11. Great.

"So design a uniform" I muttered as everyone's eyes turned toward me. "How stupid" I muttered. Should I be glad or horrified that they were taking it seriously.

After a few minutes we ended up with a simple black outfit and black cloak. The cloak had a silvery wolf design on it and the rest of the clothing was trimmed in silver. They I adjusted the trim to match someone's status in the guild. The BlackWolves chose a purple, I did royal blue, Firefly went red and the grey's went silvery grey while the white wolves did white.

"Done" I muttered. "Do we get a memo saying complete or something?"

Just as I muttered it all of our phones dinged together.

[Congrats LoneWolves for completing your task.]

[Reward: Beginner gift for NewLegacy 2.0]

"2.0" mumbled Firefly. She curiously considered what that could mean.

"Stupid activity" muttered MidnightFury a GreyWolf.

"Should we consider moving closer together if this is going to be a reoccurring theme?" muttered DoubleEffect.

"I need my own space" ShadowLance immediately replied.

"Long as we can reach each other within 10 minutes I don't really care." I replied "That should be plenty of time to deal with any problems."

NightSong nodded "Our group can match that."

With that I was about to turn around and head back toward my place when a drone appeared in the sky. 11 wrapped black bundles dropped from it.

"Huh starter packs? I thought they'd be in game things." I muttered retrieving one.

An explosion rocked another building not too far away and my head shot up.

"What was that!" growled ShadowLance.

Our phones all beeped.

[Beginner activity now over. 6 no show's have been eliminated. I look forward to our next activity. Mango]

I felt the surrounding air temperature drop. 6 eliminations? The explosions. I gulped. Over simply not showing up.

"On second thought" said ShadowLance "Maybe moving closer together isn't such a bad idea."

The rest of us nodded in agreement.

"So that leaves us two choices. Government facility or pick a spot?" I asked.

"We vote government" said NightSong immediately.

"And you don't get a vote" I replied. I let the others think for a bit.

Firefly went with government. ShadowLance chose different place. MidnightFury didn't care. Which left PurpleLily with government and DoubleEffect with not caring.

I still didn't particularly like the government idea. That many people around was bound to cause me a million headaches.

NightSong finally had a good idea though, "The government can easily set up a separate area for each of you without needing to group with other guilds."

This led to our moving adventure. When I got back to my apartment Deck was in tears saying sorry multiple times because he was going to the government facility. I patted his head and told him I was as well. He instantly cheered up, like complete 180. The ball of energy was now hyper focused on packing.
