Blank (4)

Blank gulped. He would take this information back to the other teams. Then they could take them out and be just a tiny bit safer. He started to edge backward slowly when Unholy the leader of team red spoke.

"Well did you succeed?" His voice even sounded heartless.

Rash nodded. "They don't suspect us at all, and the assassin is on the run from everyone."

Wait assassin? Was he referring to Royal. Blank stopped trying to back up and instead focused on listening.

"Good" Unholy practically purred sounding even more creepy. "Then once he's out of the way we will move on to the other solo players. They are the easiest targets since they aren't all buddy-buddy with each other. Show me his face again."

Rash's image suddenly blurred then turned into Royal's. Unholy grinned evily then punched Rash hard.

"Ouch what the heck!" Rash yelped changing back to Rash.

"Sorry I just can't stand staring at his face." Unholy replied. "You left him enough clues to follow you right?"

"Yeah of course." Rash muttered stroking his injury. "He should be here shortly."

Just then an arch of light blue shot across the sky and a form landed on a nearby tall rock.

The way the sunlight glimmered on his light blue wings, and his hair, Blank loved the image so much. Royal really looked like an angel.

"Well, well" Royal said with a sneer. "If it isn't my least favorite bunch of low lives."

"Why don't you come down and play?" replied Destroyer.

"And fall into your obvious trap?" asked Royal. "I'm not an idiot. Anyone with half a brain could tell you left a trail." His gaze shot over to Rush. "Sorry to disappoint but I'm not coming down to be surrounded by your guild. And yes I know they are all over forming a circle."

Unholy hissed in annoyance.

"Tell me do you fear death or pain more?" Asked Royal. "I could beat you up until you make up your mind."

"Oh yes come down here and beat us up." Unholy replied.

"I'm not stupid" Royal said again taking a tone you might take when talking to an angry toddler.

"Oh then how do you plan to beat us up?" asked Unholy.

"Simple" Royal pulled a mini bomb from his pocket. "I believe this can hurt quite a bit, if you live I might even let you go and chase you another day."

Unholy hissed again then he saw Blank and a smirk curled up his lips.

"So what you going to do now?" asked Royal looking down on him.

"I think you are mistaken, you are the hunted, not the hunter." Said Unholy. "Didn't I already mention we have more of us around."

At those words Blank froze, others? Just then he felt a blade against his neck. His eyes shot sideways. Another member of team red, GreedIsGood, had made his appearance.

"You…" Blank started to hiss but felt the blade press harder.

"Yes me." He replied. "Don't try to move or talk. My hand feels a bit slippery today. I'd love to add an uninvited guest to my kill count, but if you behave I might take you to see Unholy first."

Blank relaxed his arms and stopped resisting. The way he was holding him…. he could kill him in an instant. He'd have to hope he let down his guard at some point.

In front Unholy was eyeing Royal with hatred. From the rocks nearby several other bodies appeared. The whole of team red was here. How had Blank not noticed!

"Okay, tell you what RoyalBlue, let's play a game."

"Oh." Asked Royal not taking his eyes off of him.

"Well clearly you have wings, so I can't exactly trap you at the moment."

Royal didn't reply but just gave him a 'no duh' type expression.

"The game is simple, you try to live as long as you can under my terms and conditions."

"Oh and why would I do that?" asked Royal sarcastically.

"Because I happen to have something you treasure. In fact you had no known weaknesses for quite awhile." His gaze grew more evil.

"I don't have any attachments." Royal replied coldly.

"Oh really? I was originally thinking I'd have to trap that Decimal friend of yours and use him as leverage, but an even better one just came to us a few seconds ago." He laughed.

Huh thought Blank, what did Royal treasure? He had never heard of him being attached to anything.

"Oh and what is it that I treasure anyway?" Royal replied keeping his tone to the same bored effect.

Suddenly Blank felt himself get shoved forward. With GreedIsGood still holding him firmly.

Shoot! Thought Blank, he's referring to me!?!!?

Well jokes on him. His gaze darkened at the thought of all the things he had said to Royal. He'd be lucky if Royal ever talked to him again even if he now could manage to clear his name.

Royal's eyes flashed with anger. See! Thought Blank he hates even looking at me.

"You play my game or the leader of the cats hits the graveyard. Curiosity kills that cat after all." Unholy sang.

Blank shut his eyes waiting for Royal to say something and the blade to slice his neck open. Who wouldn't after he'd tried to hunt him down? At least without leverage Royal would be able to still fly away. What he heard next made his heart skip a beat in both fear and happiness.

"Why don't you tell me more about this 'game' of yours?" Royal said.

The small grin on Unholy's face stretched out across his entire face, as if confirming that Royal did care about him.

"It's very simple really. I inject the both of you with a new drug of mine, if you live you go free, if you don't well not much on options there."

"And what is there to force you to keep your statement?" Royal replied.

"Nothing but if you don't Blanky here dies now instead of later."

"Don't do i….." Blank's words cut off as the blade dug into his throat causing a line of blood to start dripping down his neck.

Blank felt his heart leap as Royal's eyes full of concern turned to him then glared again at Unholy.

Royal growled. "How long do we have to live before we can go free?"

"Hmm how about four hours?" Unholy replied. "You could seek medical treatment if you last that long."

Blank's mind started spinning. Even if they had mixed a crazy creation of a poison they should be able to last that long with their stats. Both of them were top of the top. Blank had lots of poison type resistances and surely Royal did as well right?

They could totally manage it. Right? A shiver ran down his spine as he contemplated ideas.

"Well what do you say?" Unholy reached into a bag and pulled out 2 syringes. "We playing? Or is Blank dying?"

Royal's eyes looked at the dark purplish liquid. Even from this distance Blank could see his jaw clenched. Leave he wanted to shout. Why was Royal even considering such a crazy idea. They were killers! Even if the drug thing didn't kill them both there was only like a 1% chance that they would keep their word. And that would only happen if it somehow benefited team red to let them go free.

"Fine" growled Royal.

He jumped off the rock and floated to the ground. Then he stuck out his arm.

Blank stared in horror as Unholy injected whatever it was into his arm. Most of him screaming that Royal was clearly an idiot. But he was an idiot that was doing it for Blank's sake. That clearly made him a lovable idiot.

Royal winced in pain and gritted his teeth. His body had started trembling.

"Okay your turn." GreedIsGood forced him forward and stretched out his arm.

Blank shivered as it was injected. He instantly felt miserable. A little ways away Royal collapsed to the ground.

"What the heck is in this stuff!" Blank immediately yelled at unholy.

Unholy laughed. "Oh you will see. It's a fun time."

Blank tried to punch at him. The blade on his neck was already forgotten seeing Royal's unconscious body. Another trail of blood ran down his neck. GreedIsGood released him letting him collapse to his knees.

"Don't worry the first part is just a knock out drug. We will see if you live through part one." Unholy's smile was cruel. "I do love playing with my enemies." He laughed.

"Part one?" Blank gasped.

Unholy laughed again. "My dear the game is just beginning."

Blank felt his whole body go cold as darkness wrapped around him and he was unable to stay conscious.
