The wedding had been a success and was finally over. The after-party was now in full swing as the newly wedded couple walked around making small talks and receiving a lot of congratulations from many well wishers.
Tired of the festivities, Luciana stepped out a bit for a breather. She soon found herself on the upper floor quietly walking around until a voice halted her thoughts. She strode towards it and was lead to a deserted hallway. She glanced around and found a girl about five years old loitering around with a frown marring her adorable face.
She approached her and tapped her on the back when she was close enough. A gasp escaped the little girl as she swivelled around to face Luciana.
"Who are you?" She questioned curiously.
"Someone. You?" Luciana said with a little smile in hopes of appearing a little amiable.
The girl frowned at her attempts and shook her head resulting in her tamed curls escaping the pins that had them bound together.
"You're just like my dad. Your jokes are really horrible." She said with a huff.
Luciana silently watched the girl and wondered what she could be doing here all alone.
"If I may ask, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be with your family? Your Dad?"
"Yeah. But I lost them and I still can't find them even after touring almost the whole building."
"Come with me." Luciana beckoned the child to follow her as she went to the wedding reception. After many futile attempts to find the girl's family they resulted to spending time together instead of aimlessly walking around.
Luciana took her to her penthouse on the last floor. They took off their boots when they entered and took a seat on the couch after Luciana had served her juice.
"You shouldn't trust people that much kiddo. It's dangerous to do so in the world we live in now." Luciana gently chided her.
"It's Quinxel." She said with a smile after frowning at the mention of the word 'kiddo'.
"Well Queen, you shouldn't just trust people you just met. It can put you in danger."
"I know teakwando and Jiu-Jitsu." She shrugged softly in an attempt to defend herself.
Luciana shook her head as she stared at her with a smile.
"So what do you wanna do?" Luciana questioned her.
"Can you be my mummy?"
Luciana froze at the mention of that word and struggled to retrieve her composure.
"Why?"
The girl stared straight ahead as if to hide something and turned to Luciana with tears in her eyes.
"I never got to meet my mother. Whenever i ask Daddy of her, he either changes the topic or refuses to answer me and so i stopped questioning him about her. "
Luciana silently cursed out Quinxel's mother in her head but stopped once she remembered her own faults.
"Come here."
She wrapped her arms around the sobbing girl after she made her sit on her lap.
After many minutes of crying and comforting, the duo separated as Luciana entered a bedroom and brought out a tail comb and some scrunchies.
The day was spent braiding Quinxel's hair and having lots of fun.
Luciana took a look at the clock on the wall and kept in a gasp. They had spent almost four hours together. She tidied up the place and held Quinxel's hand as they walked back to the hall the wedding reception was taking place.
One of her security men approached and told her that Quinxel's family had come looking for her after they heard the announcement.
"We've found your family." She told her.
Quinxel nodded with a small smile as they headed towards her family.
