Chapter 37: How The Meeting Went

Yu Yue: Yu Yue is a 17 years old disciple at Western Wind Ethereal Sect. Most importantly, she is the Successor Disciple, which means she will inherit the position as Grandmaster in the future (this position is equivalent to Sect Leader). She possesses the air element, spends most of her life secluded inside the Sect but holds a deep desire to go out and travel.

It was almost sundown when Silang came into her room to explain how the meeting went. He brought some moon cakes that he sneaked off the trays of some Master's dinner for A'Li. She asked him how the meeting went, but most importantly, if that strict Grandmaster will let the girl Yu Yue go with them.

"What did you expect?" He rolled his eyes.

The Grandmaster turned out to be the most perverse person ever to have lived. Silang's comment was, she doesn't deserve her everlasting beauty.

Kun Shang tried to convince them that Yu Yue was a fragment of his incredibly ancient sword that was once famous, but the Grandmaster didn't believe a word of it. After hearing this Yu Yue unexpectedly complied to leave with them. She told her Master that she'd already wanted to explore the world. Even then, the Grandmaster still insisted with a stricter no. Yu Yue reassured the Grandmaster that they would meet up at the Pugilistic of Martial Arts Conference together if she allowed her to leave. The Grandmaster looked at her as if she was insane and replied with more anger. No!

Kun Shang finally exposed his sword, in which the Grandmaster was promisingly intrigued by its build and maker. She slightly waiver during this time, but in the end, she still declined. At the end she just told them to leave after Kun Shang's recovery.

So many reasons and she still refused? Xiu'er thought in her head and scratched her chin. Her brother read her expression and continued explaining.

The Grandmaster's reasoning was simply that Yu Yue was the Successor Disciple in which the entire Western Wind Ethereal Sect will soon depend on her maturity, ability, and knowledge. Yu Yue had an outstanding talent to control air that was once in a lifetime prowess. There was no way the Grandmaster would allow Kun Shang to take that prowess away from her. It was simply because of this power that Yu Yue was to become the next Grandmaster. Who did Kun Shang think he was to decide that for their Sect?

Aside from the formal discussion, Silang whispered to Xiu'er that Xiaogua froze when Yu Yue greeted him. The shocked man opened his mouth many times but nothing came out. Silang had to introduce them. Yu Yue had smiled at Xiaogua and her smile swept him off his feet. He couldn't take his eyes off her and was blushing like a boy.

Silang snorted as he reached his hand for a moon cake, but A'Li swapped it away.

Their talk was interrupted when there came a knocking on Xiu'er's ice door. The siblings turned around to see the two subjects of conversation enter her room.

"How is A'Li doing?" Xiaogua cleared his throat nervously. "I never knew he have such a weak immunity to the cold." Xiu'er was actually more concerned about him and his headache, but he insisted that he was fine. His pale face said otherwise.

When Yu Yue heard about A'Li, she was curious to see the tamed monkey and came to express her apologies for the coldness of their Sect. Xiu'er couldn't help but see the strange behavior Xiaogua was emitting towards Yu Yue and smiled internally. After Xiaogua tried to introduce Yu Yue to Xiu'er in multiple sets of failed 'ahs' and 'ums', he only gestured with an arm and sped out. It also didn't help that Silang bursted into a cackle as soon as he left.

Yu Yue first and foremost asked Xiu'er about her health because she did receive a direct hit from her Grandmaster's Pacify Jade Fan. Xiu'er smiled.

"You saw it?" She asked.

"I came right at that moment," Yu Yue softly replied. "I didn't want to interrupt anything until I realized that Xiaogua could not control his waters. Are you his Master? You look pretty young to be a Master."

Xiu'er chuckled and looked at her brother. She explained that she was not his Master, just a friend. After she was hit, she came back to the room and did some meditation. She's fine now. In fact, the Grandmaster let her off easy.

That was a lie, Xiu'er said in her head. But I can't reveal my powers to anyone yet.

Yu Yue managed to ask all sorts of questions about the outside world to Xiu'er and what it would be like if she were to see it. She had only stepped outside of the Sect for the first time three years ago to attend the Pugilistic of Martial Arts Conference, which she honorably took fourth place at such a young age. However, during that time she was on strict rules so she couldn't explore the capital to her heart's content. In return, Xiu'er asked about the Conference and what it was.

The Pugilistic of Martial Arts Conference was the largest competition gathering for martial artists, held once every three years for all Sects and factions to compete for the ultimate title. It took place in the capital and was facilitated by the Legendary World Roaming Hero, Huang Zhaoli. If the Grandmaster had allowed Yu Yue to go with them, that was where they would've met up two months from now. Since the Conference was coming up close, the Grandmaster was just probably concerned about Yu Yue's well-being.

All the while Yu Yue was talking, Silang's head was on his palm, staring improperly at her with sparkling eyes. She was one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen, like a goddess before his very presence. Even though she was not his type, he's admiring her unmatchable beauty.

Too pure, he thought. I can't believe her beauty struck down Xiaogua's tongue and froze him in sight.

Yu Yue was uncomfortable with his staring so Xiu'er asked her brother to leave.

After her brother left, she took Yu Yue by the hand, looked her in the eyes and told her that if Kun Shang ever asked how he was saved, she shouldn't tell him anything.

"How was he saved?" The girl asked curiously. "I heard someone begged Master Quan to use the Heart Cleansing Spring to save him, but I wasn't sure who exactly. Also, isn't it proper to thank the person who saved you?"

"Eventually you will find out, but even then, don't tell him." Xiu'er gently squeezed her hand from across the table.

Yu Yue looked at her more closely. "Don't tell me it's you."

"Sometimes, a white lie is better than the truth."

Yu Yue unexpectedly let out a soft smile and nodded her head. She was easy to convince, Xiu'er thought. But she knew that Yu Yue must be an understanding person as well. Why does she want to befriend this girl so much?
