5- Crisis? What's that? Can you eat it?

~ The day of Julian's birth.

Sirzech was currently absently doing paperwork while thinking about his one year old little sister Rias. If he was being honest, he was pretty much always thinking about her these days, the only exception being when he was fondling his wife's Grayfia, breasts, the only time he was concentrated on a single thing.

His previously mentioned wife was diligently doing her duties as the head maid of house Gremory, which mean standing behind him and watching him work.

She really was just there to keep him from slacking. Something that made him extremelly confused and sad, because she was seemingly never tiring of the boring task of watching him read and stamp on sheets of paper or rendering them to dust with his power of destruction.

At the beginning, he thought that this maid thing was a real life play between a maid and a master, but he will always remember the beating he got the day he had asked her about it. And therefore will never ask again, something that he forget frequently for some reason.

Suddenly, he felt the ambiant magical energy everywhere in the underworld amplifying and entering a frenzy for a couple of seconds.

'That's odd.' he tought.

This sort of outbreak rarely ever happen in the underworld where the leylines had no direct access. Only once a century would the excess magical energy would be ejected into the underworld.

The reason for the oddness of the situation, was that the last one only dated back to 34 years ago.

He met eyes with Grayfia for a second before shrugging it off after nothing happened to follow up on it and returned to work.

But barely after restarting to read a report about a high-class devil abusing his peerage, again. The same phenomenon as earlier happened again but this time way stronger and and longer than the one before.

This time, the feeling of magical energy was a physical one. For Sirzech, it was nothing, like a light wind constantly pushing and pressing all around him. Well, It might have been the case for him, but he could tell that middle-class and low-class devils as well as children would definitely struggle to breath in this situation.

Thinking about Rias and all of the other devil children, he immediatly got up and teleported himself and Grayfia in the sky above the capital. Soon, he was joined by the other three great demons king, Seraphall Leviathan, Ajuka Beelzebub and Falbium Asmodeus. As well as the head of the Bael, Bélial, Sitri, Leviathan, Buné and Phenex clan who were Super-devils in their own right with the rest of the 27 seven clans head being satans-class.

He was surprised for a moment to see the leader of Grigori, Azazel, appear with his close friends and aids, Belial and Dagon. As well as his Cadres, Baraqiel, shemhayza, Kokabiel, Armaross, Sahariel, Penemue, and Tamiel with their seven pairs of black wings proudly displayed behind them. Only Azazel, Belial, Dagon, Baraqiel and shemhayza not displaying anything.

Seeing this show of power, the Heads of the devil clans did the same, having transcended the devils species, they too could obtain multiple pairs of wings like the original satans. All of them had seven pairs of wings too.

Seeing this farce as the time was ticking, both Sirzech and Azazel frowned and released a tiny fraction of their presence on the people of their own faction. Immediatly making them shudder and retract their wings.

Not in the mood to make a public speech right now,he looked toward Azazel who understood his meaning.

With a loud and cold voice, reverberating through the sky of the capital, he reprimanded them . "There is no time for petty squable, an unprecedented amount of magical energy is currently being unleashed on the underworld in exponential waves, two of such waves have already happened as of now. Maybe you cannot feel it, but the density of it is enough to rend unable of movement low and medium-class devils as well as fallen who have one to two pairs of wings. Just see for yourself the capital underneath you."

Everyone present then cast theirs gaze across the roads and paths of the capital, seeing them jonched with people on their knees or just frozen in place, with other moving in panics difficultly like headless chickens, unknowing of what was happening.

"According to my calculations and the waves being of an exponential nature. The magical energy brought by the next wave should be enough to crush to death ultimate-class devils or fallens with four pairs of wings. Effectively wiping 99% of the population of the underworld, not counting the Realm of the dead and Cocytus." He said in a solemn voice, letting his words sink in.

And sinking hard they did, almost everyone present becoming deathly pale and feeling faint.

"And it should begin in 20 seconds. SO MOVE! You better all begin move your ass and go protect a section of the underworld if you don't want your entire family to be crushed to death!" He shouted and sweared despites himself, a little unnerved at the situation. He sure was hopping for this wave to be the last because he was sure that if it was not, nobody could survive it.

Not even bothering about to think about being ordered by the leader of an hostile faction, the devils as well as the fallens immediatly teleported themselves to the four corners of the underworld to control and regulate the level of magical energy incoming.

Sirzech sent a look to Grayfia who was by his side and only said three words. "Go protect Rias."

She nodded before teleporting herself, no time was to be wasted.

Afterward, the leader of the four great demons king teleported to the center of the underworld, the top of an ordinary mountain, and waited for the crisis to begin.

He didn't need to wait long for it however, barely two seconds passing before he felt it. A nearly physical wave of magical energy being released from the earth, in the form of a thick blue mist raising from it.

Normally, the most efficient way to exhaust ambiant magical energy would be to use external fueled spell, exchanging the energy in the air for the power and effect of the spell.

In fact, right now. He could see world shaking spells being released far, far up in the sky. The sky of the entirety of the underworld flashing and changing colors each second.

But Sirzech didn't need to use this method.

Concentrating for a fraction of second, he stuck out his index finger befor him and uttered a single, echoing word.

"Destroy"

A single drop of deep red liquid with swirls of black inside it was released from his finger into the blue mist.

Hardly had the drop touch it that the blue mist began to disapear at blinding speed, with a wave of red spreading from the point of impact to the rest of the mist.

A single second later. Sirzech could feel his power having washed over the entirety of the underworld and reducing the overwhelming mana that was recently introduced to their land to nothing.

But the wave still had a few seconds of being active and him repeating the process until it was over would not be enough to stop the death of their population.

Even now, he could "see" with his perception low-class devils eyes imploding from their sockets.

Imagining his little sister Rias in the same state made his blood go cold and get a little angry. He thus decided to get a little serious.

Planting his arms deep in the ground, he released a pulse of his magic through the underworld, localizing every leylines coursing trough it.

He could see how they were dangerously blotted with magical energy, pumping it out of them into the underworld.

He knew they would never break or snap, but it was still an impressive sight.

Refocusing on the task at hand, he tried to introduce some of his power of destruction into the nearest point of entry.

Sirzech was surprised at the fierce resistance he met from the leylines to his direct intrusion of them, his sliver of power fighting fiercely against the magical energy inside them for supremacy.

Seeing that what he was attempting was possible, he immediatly put a little more force to the flow, not willing to possibly damage the leylines.

Instantly, like a sheet of wet paper, the resistance was broken through by the massive flood of power of destruction that he was carefully controlling to only target magical energy.

Putting a little more effort in the speed of the flow, his own energy rapidly replacing the magical particules of the leylines of the underworld.

After he saw that he had flooded the totality of the network, he waited for a couple of moments before cutting off his supply of power used for the maintenance of his energy of destruction in the leylines.

In an instant the power of destruction everywhere in the leylines collapsed on itself, leaving the way free for the now normal flow of magical energy in the leylines.

"Here, crisis averted." Sirzech said satisfyingly, clapping himself mentally on the back for a work well done.

Afterward, he teleported himself back to the sky of the capital, not caring if another wave was to come. If there was, he would flee with his close ones out of the underworld and come back to save the most devils he could.

After a few moments, people started appearing around him, namely the other demons kings and Azazel. The latter approaching him with a slightly amused and annoyed expression.

"You know, Sirzech, just you and I could have easily prevented everyone in the underworld from dying from the pressure with our aura. All the while steadily exhausting the magical energy in the air with spells. You didn't need to go to such lenght. I had plans for such a huge amount of energy." He pointed out.

Sirzech just sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. "Oh, sorry, I guess." He had forgot about that. But he wasn't exactly in the calmest state of mind when he had thought about the baby Rias suffering from the outbreak of energy. In fact, he had also forgotten that he had sent Grayfia to protect her earlier.

Azazel just shook his head and sighed. "Forget it, I would probably do the same if I had a younger sister like yours exposed to danger."

At that Sirzech gained a fawning smile. "You're Right! I would do anything for my Rias. After all, she's the best little sister of all. Don't you agree?"

Azazel just sweatdropped and promptly took a strategic retreat, using the excuse that the others were coming back and they couldn't be seen talking casually together.

Meanwhile, The head of the clans and the cadres were coming back looking confused after the quite underwhelming outbreak of magical energy that was supposed to be able to crush ultimate-class devils.

Only people knowing about Sirzech true control over his power of destruction or able to sense the Leylines at all time were aware of what had really happened.

Grayfia, reappearing at Sirzech side once again didn't need any prompting before calmly confirming. "She's fine."

At that, Sirzech couldn't help but let out a small sigh of relief. Don't misunderstand him, there was no one in his life he was trusting more than his wife. But on the matters concerning his baby sister, he was all but illogical.

Grayfia, being well aware of it, didn't make a fuss and got back into maid mode. "Sirzech-sama, the cause of the recent crisis seem to be a massive phenomenon affecting all of earth. The majority of the factions around the world are currently investigating it. The anomaly also seem to have a certain relation to the power of destruction of the bael clan. Shall we go see for ourselves?"

Sirzech's brows furrowed in confusion. "The power of destruction? I need to see."
