Julian on vacation, for now

Subaru and Julian explored a bit, not going anywhere in particular.

Julian, meanwhile, was admiring the fantasy filled sight of the city and its diversity of races he had never seen before.

Both stopping before a stall where a big, green haired muscular man was tending to.

Subaru said in a confident manner. "Well, as we are in an unknow place. The first thing we should be doing is gather information. I think this man seem friendly enough. So I'll go talk to him a bit okay?"

Julian only answer was dubious gaze.

Seeing this, Subaru smiled and patted his chest proudly. "Don't worry, I'm a social beast. I'll gather the information we need in blink."

Julian shrugged and replied. "Go ahead then."

Julian watched as they exchanged two sentences only for Subaru to be shoved off by the merchant.

As they resumed their way. Julian only quirked a brow and said tauntingly. "Social beast huh?"

Subaru grumbled. "Shut up. He was less friendly than I thought. Besides, I still learned that we can understand the locals at least, but not their writing..."

He then threw a curious look at Julian. "Do you have anything of value on you by the way?"

Julian shook his head. "No... I don't bring anything with me when I'm taking a piss."

Subaru lips twitched an he sighed. "You bet. Still, I think we should continue searching for info. What do you think."

Julian smiled. "I guess. I mean, there's not much we can do other than that."

And so Julian followed Subaru around. Of course there, was a reason behind it, as his goal in this world was meet and confront people with authorities. What better way there was to reach it than follow the walking calamity Natsuki Subaru?

As of right now, it was the best thing Julian could do. As he otherwise had not idea where to find sin arcbishops or witches.

Seeing Subaru suddenly jerking to the side to enter a certain building. Julian warned. "Dude, why are you going inside this establishment? Don't you see the sign above saying its a bathroom for female furry?"

Throwing a look the sign a above the door of the building and seeing gibberish. Subatu turned toward Julian and made a weird face. "You can read that?"

Julian looked away and scratched his nose. "No... It's just an instinct."

Subaru waved his concerns away and entered anyway. "Furry bathroom my ass, it look like an inn..."

Multiple feminine screams resounded a second later, along with the thundering sound of a slap.

A livid Subaru with a red paw mark on his face came out, only saying. "I know, don't say anything."

Not caring at all, Julian said it anyway. "Told you so. Or maybe you're into furry?"

Subaru groaning in painful defeat and refusing categorically the claim. The duo went on their path for enlightenment.

The next stop was a big building where a steady stream of lizard people came in and out of.

Pausing for a moment, Subaru gazed at Julian for confirmation. Less confident because of his previous failures. "This is an inn or bar, right?"

Julian nodded. "Seem like it, it's worth giving a shot."

It was an essential moment for the plot, so he would not change the final result.

Both pushed open the batwing doors, AKA saloon doors and entered the inn.

Only to be received by annoyed gazes and a somewhat squeaky voice. "We don't want any humans here."

While Subaru was standing there still registering what was said. A big lizardman came in and tried to push both of them out of the bar half heartedly with an arm.

Tried was the word, as it worked for Subaru as he was blinded by the arm directly touching his eyes. But not for Julian, who just took a step back to dodge the arm.

"Ah! I can't see, help!"

*SPLASH*

Julian, gazed at the form of Subaru who fell from the bridge to the river and shrugged.

Throwing a look at the burning sun in the sky, he took a step back and dived in the river.

It was pretty hot after all.

Meanwhile, the people on the bridge threw confused look at one another with the same question on their mind.

'What the fuck?'

–––

"Man, that lizardman suck. At least the ramen and the ships are okay." Subaru took off his black tracksuit to let it dry in the sun, complaining to Julian at the same time.

Both teens were currently sitting in an empty alley, safe from the curious gazes of the crowd outside.

Julian, wet shirt clinging to his chest and outlining his muscles, was lying on the ground with his eyes closed and letting the rays of the sun dry him. "It's okay, it's not that bad. It's not like we are pressed by time, there's not need to rush anything."

In fact, he was quite liking his current situation. Lying in the middle of an alley, in the middle of a city where nobody knew him, in the middle of a world where he had no true ties or responsibility. It was relaxing, kinda freeing.

Subaru deflated and sighed. "You're right... It's just, aren't we supposed to be heroes destined to save the world or something? Where is our op power and our legendary weapons? Or the beauty that summoned us?"

Julian opened one eye and uses it to look at Subaru who was sitting besides him. "You know isekai stories aren't always nice to the protagonist right? We're not in a fantasy after all, this is still real life."

Appearing stumped, Subaru opened his mouth to answer. But it was at this moment that three person who could only be surnamed as thugs waltzed into the alley like they owned the place.

Stopping a little distance before the duo, the middle guy with a snake tongue hanging out of his mouth and who seemed to be the leader of the little brigade threatened. "Spit out all of your money if you don't want to be in a for world of pain."

Pointing a Julian who was still on the ground, he warned. "And you, the strong looking dude. Don't move an inch o-..."

But before he could finish his sentence, Julian directly jumped to his feet from his back in an elegant and practiced fashion. Smirking, he pricked his ears. "Oh, sorry. My shirt just finished drying. What were you saying?"

The three thugs' face cramped up in anger. The one from the leader even more so. Taking out two daggers from his belt and twirling them in an intimidating display, he snarled. "You're gonna regret it..."

"Out of the way!"

"You guys!"

"Outta the way!"

Just as the tension was escalating, a youthful, feminine voice adressed them from the entrance of the alley.

And it was at this time that Subaru stood up and pointed at the enlarging figure, shouting excitedly. "Ooooooooh! Dude, maybe she's the beauty that summoned

us!"

The figure in question slowed down and stopped a few meters before the group of thugs.

"Excuse me?"

But only an instant later, she waved her hand and shook her head. "I don't understand a single thing you spoke about and I don't have the time."

Afterward, she clenched her fists before her chest and adressed the group of thugs in a cheerful voice. "Sorry! Stay strong you guys!"

Darting to the side of both groups, she accelerated and made for the walls.

But just as she prepared to jump on a wall, Julian pointed at her and yelled. "Stop right there, criminal scum!"

Stopping right in her tracks, she turned herself toward Julian and made a confused face. "What? You know me? Strange, I always made sure I was unrecognizable when I stole things." Said the girl without any form of actual disguise.

Julian who just wanted her attention for a bit, shook his head. "No, I don't know you personnally. But I know one thing... Beware of your client, she's extremelly dangerous. If I were you, I wouldn't even meet her at all."

The girl, weird out, hesitated if she should stay for clarification or not. But in the end, she just cast one last gaze to Julian and left. Jumping between walls to finally land on the roof of a house and leaving, gusts of wind following her everywhere she went.

"What was that?" Subaru asked julian, momentarily forgeting their situation.

The person in question, as for him, just waved his hand. "Nothing, Just something I want to say to be cool."

"No, I was speaking about the skyrim reference..." Subaru shook his head and shrugged. Well, there was no inapropriate time for references. At least he was here to understand.

"You guys... Are seriously pissing me of." A vein bulged on the forehead of not only the leader of the thugs, but also his lackey's.

"Subaru, you think you can take them on?" Julian totally ignore the fod- foe before him and asked.

Subaru, who was already in his feet, gazed at the knive of the chief of the mini mafia and gulped. "But... Dude, he have knives."

Julian smiled and and rolled his shoulders. "Don't worry about it, I'll take him on. Just take care of the other two."

Julian threw a gaze at the still hesitating Subaru and said. "Don't forget, we're isekai protagonist. We're overpowered."

"Ah, right. How could I forget!" Subaru laughed happily and rather creepily.

"YOUR SHITTING ME, THAT'S IT! YOU BOTH ARE SO DEAD!" The snake tongued thug almost lost his mind to anger and suddenly lunged with abnormal speed at Julian.

Julian, who was still looking toward Subaru, turned his gaze toward his attacker and grinned.

Predicting the knives making for his throat, Julian ducked at the last moment and body tackled the thug not too strongly with his shoulder.

The thug, because of his forward momentum. Gasped in pain and due to his sudden need to breath. Tumbling a couple of meters back, he somehow succeed to stay on his feet.

Julian caught and tossed the dwarf who just threw himself at him to Subaru and made a come over here gesture with his hand toward his current enemy. "Come on, you're the one with the big scary knives. So how come you're the one being played with?"

Bitting his lips to the point of blood in anger and humilation, the knives wielding hooligan once again advanced toward Julian. Only, this time, more methodically.

Making minimal movements, the hoodlum actually showed quite some skill with the dagger. Slashing in quick succession on julian vitals, not letting many rooms to dodge from.

But despite it all, Julian avoid them all. His eyes followings specific part of his foe's body.

The shoulders, the waist, and the eyes.

In keeping track of them, he could make deductions on the caracteristics of his opponent's strikes at the moment he even went ahead with them.

Still, he was beginning to be cornered as the alley was not advantageous for prolonged fight.

So being forced to it, and growing bored with the fight as it wasn't providing him any challenges despite him limiting himself to a normal human capabilities. Julian waited for a laps in the flurry of blow and closed in with his opponent, almost gluing himself to him.

And, profiting from his instinctual retreat, he grabbed one of the recoiling wrist wrenched it toward with considerate strentgh himself. Letting it go immediatly afterward, Julian leaped forward with his arm extended at his side and a little bent. Directed directly at the gangster throat.

*CRACK*

Was the sound the head of the thug made when hitting the ground after rotating one time in the air.

After, verifying that he didn't kill him, Julian gazed at a slightly beaten Subaru who had already finished his fight with the other two thugs. Not without difficulties it seemed as it was a direct condrontation where no there was no surprise first attacks.

Walking to the heaving Subaru and sitting beside him, Julian asked. "So how did you find your first fight in another world?"

Ignoring his question, Subaru just panted and pointed at him with a finger and an accusary look. "What the fuck was that!? You totaly destroyed that guy. Were you some kind of martial artist back in our world? Why didn't you tell me?"

Just as Julian was on the verge of answering, both of them heard quick steps coming from the alley's entrance.

A/N: Sorry for the late chapter, just as I thought I was past that, but eh. That's life for you. This chapter I tried to rush the little mishappenings of Subaru in the beginning. I think I did okay without totally omiting them. I'm not gonna lie, this fight scene was a bit filler. It was really me practicing for later. I hope it was still enjoyable. You are welcome to give me tips or critics about this fight scene or fight scenes in general. I'm really trying to up my pacing, so there is that. Don't forget to comment on anything you want to on this fanfic and drops stones. Also, don't use swearing words at all in them, or webnovel will delete them. That's all, peace out.

Ps: Sorry for cliffhanger with the waifu encounter.
