CHAPTER 21

MARCUS POV

I had told Mary to leave camp and had tended to give her a job. Susan, the new housekeeper I had employed had told me, Jane was still busy getting outfitted. It had seemed like she wasn't interested in having her meal with me but that wasn't a problem for me, she could have it her way.

The call from my business associate in Chicago had come in yesterday and they needed me immediately. Even though I ran my father's illegal business, I still had a business in Chicago.

It was a business where I vested the money gotten from my business. I instantly went and took a shower, but before I could successfully make it to my room I had decided to inform Jane of my trip.

I opened her door to see her all dressed and varied. I didn't want her to notice how I was gawking at her so I just said, "who's kitten is that?" I inquired, glancing at the way she caressed the animal. "Uhm, I want to keep it," was all she explained as she kept stroking it back gently.

She could have it her way, I didn't want her seeing me differently. "I'm traveling for a month to Chicago and I want you to come with me, I can't trust you to be here again when I come back. You don't need to pack anything! We can replace them when we get married,” I mumbled before evacuating the room.

I walked into the shower and switched on the shower. The rain from the shower kept confronting me from how tormented I felt, I couldn't believe that my hands had pulled the trigger that resulted in killing Noah.

I couldn't help it as I kept hitting the wall. The tears I had been holding came pouring freely, I walked out of the shower as I dressed up and told Snake to get Jane so we can get to Chicago.

I had yanked my wallet from the table and a box of cigarettes I had left. I walked to where the car was parked and waited for Jane's arrival. After four minutes of waiting patiently she finally showed up and I must admit she looked cute holding the kitten.

I had ventured my stare to snake to start the engine. I had tapped the side of the chair for her to hop in next to me with a smirk which she returned with a frown, it took her a few seconds before she obediently took the seat close to me! Immediately the car started she kept sliding close to the door as she kept the kitten on her lap.

She looked slim. Was she sick? Maybe she wasn't eating well, she looked hot I must still admit. I kept typing on the iPad as we both sat silently till we finally made it to the airport.

I was going to use Dad's private jet. His was surely bigger than mine, the airport had provided me with a flight attendant. She had shown us to our various seats, and the announcement to fasten your seatbelts because the plane was going to take off soon was heard.

When I was done fixing mine I stared at Jane to see her struggling. I stared at her before standing up to help her out when the plane was about to take off I placed an earpod which I could use so I can get some rest but Jane got my attention as I could notice her wobbling and panicking, the little kitten had ended up getting down from her legs.

It seemed like she was frightened by the way she was acting. I didn't know what was happening but I unfastened my seatbelt as I strode to her, I thought of what to do to calm her down but only came with the dumbest idea.

I had grabbed her close to my chest as I kept caressing her back gently. This was exactly what my dad does whenever I was bullied then in school, I held her more tightly as I could feel her calming down! I think it was working.

I stared back at her to see that her eyes were snug and she wasn't breathing. I became scared as I took her to the only bedroom on the airplane, I looked behind to notice the kitten following us.

It seemed like she was scared of the plane taking off. Maybe because it was her first time, what was I going to do? She wasn't breathing fine.

“Get me a bottle of water,” I told the flight attendant as she came running with a bottle of water. “Here sir,” she said, handing the bottle to me.

I glanced at her before splashing the water on her face and just like that she sprang up. I wanted to hold on to the smirk that was forcing itself to come out but I just couldn't, her expression was absurd.

She kept staring at her wet clothing. I could see her nipples poking out a bit through the dress she wore, didn't she put on a bra? “I’m sorry for the water, I just thought maybe doing that would make you sprang up just like you did,” I said, staring at her face.

I stared at the way she hugged her body. It seemed like she must be feeling cold, I walked to the back of the bedroom and took out a pair of my sweatpants and a sweater. “Change into this,” I said, handing it over to her.

I knew she hated me and didn't like me but I hope she comes to thank me for protecting her From other Mafia's. Everybody at the Mafia's meeting kept letting out the fact of her snitching on the illegal business. My father had always wanted me to be the next Mafia and gang leader of his business but I wasn't interested.

He had trained me ever since I was fourteen years of age. I had wanted to own a legal company that I would be known for but after my father died I wanted to continue his legacy.

I peeked at the kitten which kept staring at me, “come here little guy,” I said, yanking it up before stroking his back gently.
