Chapter 8

After a quick shower and change I headed downstairs to find my parents hanging out in the kitchen talking animatedly. Of course they would be super excited that Melanie was coming home. Melanie after all was the golden child, graduated from high school a year early, went to medical school to become a well known doctor, and even joined the same pack as my parents.

I guess you could say where I was the disappointment, my sister was the pride and joy.

"Marissa." My mother called the minute she spotted me. "I just got off the phone with Melanie, she will be in early tomorrow morning. She wants you to go pick her up from the airport."

Why me? My parents were just as capable of picking her up as I was.

"Sorry, I have class tomorrow morning." It was a lie, but how were they to know?

"Class?" My dad asked narrowing his eyes. "I thought you didn't have classes on Tuesdays."

"It is a special elective that I chose." I lied keeping my expression completely flat.

Luckily my dad never developed mindlink capabilities otherwise I may very well be in trouble.

"What is the elective?" My mother asked narrowing her gaze.

What was the elective? I wasn't even sure what electives my college held.

THINK MARISSA THINK!

"Cross country." I blurted remembering that they definitely had a cross country team.

"You willingly chose to do something that involved working out?" It seemed that my mother wasn't going to buy what I was trying to sell her.

Making myself look offended I frowned, "Is it so hard to believe that I want to do something to better myself?"

"You..." My dad said pointing at me, "Yes, it is pretty hard to believe."

"Thanks, love you too." This was exactly how they acted. Nothing I said or did seemed to please them.

"Love you honey." My dad called with a chuckle.

Drats! People wondered where I got my sarcastic attitude from, that man laughing at the table with my mother was the one to blame.

"Since my presence is not needed here currently I'm going to go out for a bit." I called grabbing my coat and running out the door before my parents brought up the elective thing again.

The sun had already gone down and all the streetlights were on illuminating the sidewalk underneath my feet. There was just something about taking night walks that helped clear the mind and at this current point in time you bet your ass I was in desperate need of some mind clearing.

Tomorrow my older sister would be making an appearance and that meant that I was about to be victim to a lot of comparisons and attacks about my personal character. When Melanie was involved there was no way that my parents would ever let me off. Just knowing that really pissed me off and made me not want to even bother going back home, at least not until Melanie's visit was over.

Shaking my head I tried to clear it, focusing solely on my sister was not going to get me anywhere.

Picking up my pace I rounded a corner only to come face to face with a giant. Literally, the guy was huge at least seven feet.

"Sorry." I muttered rubbing my nose. "I didn't see you there."

The man looked down at me squinting through dark eyes. "What a pretty little girl you are." He chuckled licking his lips.

"Little?" Was this man for real? Did he really call me little?

Sniffing the air I realized that this guy was a wolf, but why had I never seen him before? He wasn't part of my parents pack and he wasn't part of any of the neighboring packs either.

"Do you like my scent?" He asked sparking a nerve within me. "If you come closer I can help you smell it better baby."

"No thanks." I growled taking a step back. This guy was disgusting and he was picking a fight with the wrong person.

"Oh come on beautiful."

The guy had begun to smile disgustingly showing sharp yellow teeth.

"Touch me and I will break every single finger on your hand." If he was brave enough to test if I was joking or not I would show him.

Tilting back his head he let out a loud laugh. "A tiny little thing like you isn't capable of doing that."

Stepping forward he reached out a fat clawed hand. Fine, I had warned him, he couldn't blame me for what was about to happen.

Smiling I allowed my claws to extend so that I could fight back evenly. He wanted to get ripped to shreds I would happily oblige.

"Now be good..." He said as one of his fingers touched my arm.

With a snarl I grabbed his wrist and immediately started twisting. At first the man seemed surprised before his face started contorting in pain. I could easily feel his bones beginning to crack in my grip and despite his attempts to pull away I wasn't letting go.

"I told you not to touch me." This would teach this disgusting piece of trash.

"Now, your hand will never be able to be used again."

Squeezing harder I allowed all his bones to shatter in my grip before letting go.

"YOU BITCH!" He snarled as his face started to elongate and contort. His open mouth showed long canines extending. "I will show you."

"Show me buddy."

I kept my gaze on him as he shifted and changed, gone was the huge disgusting man and in his place was a large copper colored wolf. His eyes glowed a blood red as he watched me.

"How cute." I said with a smile, if he thought his wolf form would intimidate me he had another thing coming.

Bracing myself I waited until he was running towards me and then jumping mouth wide open ready to grab at my throat. He was quick, but sucked for him I was quicker. Moving out of the way I allowed him to run into the light pole that was directly behind me before jumping on his back. Grabbing hold of his throat I began pulling his head back.

Beneath me he struggled trying to shake me from him, but I was holding form.

With one more tug I felt the snap that I was aiming for and then he stopped moving.

"Told you, you made a mistake." I smiled viciously savoring in the kill.

Letting go I jumped off his back before looking around. It seemed that my nice relaxing walk had officially turned into a killing and burial. Great, it seemed I was in for a long night.
