Chapter 16

Alice's POV:

We walked towards the pool area and the tension that was building between us could be cut by a knife

We sat down on the chairs that were beside the pool and it was already dark so the light that were placed in the pool illuminated the water and it was wonderful

I cleared my throat "you were about telling me something"

"Oh....Uhm that's right"he looked extremely nervous and he took a deep breath before proceeding

"Ok...so I'll begin from the day you went to the hospital for the...ehm...overdose"

I cringed at that but I nodded as a sign for him to continue

"I got a letter in the mail from some bad people and the had your pictures in it...the letters that came with them were very disturbing and the made me loose my mind for a bit....when I was younger and we weren't really staying in this town I got mixed up with wrong people and that was the biggest mistake of my life...in the letter they said;I should come back to them if not you wouldn't be on the surface of the earth and that made me really sad...that was the period I started avoiding you I thought it was going to help but I guessed I was wrong...I started pushing you away saying all the mean things to you for you to get mad at me and hate me...the incident that happened in the alley I thought it was them and that was why I decided to move back to them because I did not want to ever see you in that condition"he took a deep breath

"When I went back there,I worked extremely hard and became the mafia lord because I wanted power to protect you when I come back to you..I took over my fathers business but I couldn't get you out of my head..I hired a body guard for you in secret and he kept you out of trouble...I started sleeping around to get you out of my head but you were like a drug that I was addicted to...that's the truth if you don't want anything to do with me anymore I'll understand"I looked at him closely and noticed that he was on the verge of tears and that broke my heart to see him in that state

"It's ok Zander I understand that you did that to protect me but you did the opposite ...you hurt me really bad and I don't know if I could forgive you easily...you have to earn my trust again and maybe we can start as friends"

He gave me a weak smile but he replied with "thank you and you won't regret it I promise..I'll may sure I get your trust back 100% I promise"

"Yea...Uhm it's getting late you should probably head out"

"Yea I guess"

I was contemplating on hugging him and decided it would be a good idea to do so and that was exactly what I did I pulled him into a hug which caught him by surprise but after a few seconds he pulled me deeper into the hug

After five minutes we pulled away and he gave me a genuine smile which I did same and he walked away

I decided it was time to call it a night so I headed inside and immediately I closed the door I saw Jay waiting for me

Immediately I saw him I started blushing and that made him smile before saying

"So how did it go...I'm guessing from the blush you guys made up"

"Yea we did but I still don't trust him with my heart Jay it was hard pulling myself back together"

"Yea kiddo I know just don't stress yourself about it;if it was meant to be it would...just enjoy what you have now"

"Thanks Jay your the best"

"I know right who else would be"he smirked which earned him an eye roll from me

"So where's Maddie"I looked around and I couldn't find her

"Oh she's in the bathroom"

"Why did you allow her take a shower alone you would have helped her Jay"

He rose his hand up and said

"Not me kiddo I tried doing that but she claimed that she was a big girl and stuffs like that so I had to let her be you know how Madds gets when she's mad and am not ready for any baby tantrum

"Yea yea your right I guess so"

We talked about a few things before we heard footsteps coming down the stairs and we saw Maddie dressed in her favorite pj's

"Whose ready for some family movie night"

They both screamed "we are" I laughed at that and we made our way towards the movie room

Maddie got the snacks,I got the drinks and Jay picked out the movie we were to watch

We made it to the movie room and we settled down and began the movie

Few hours later the movie ended and I was shocked that none of us fell asleep and I checked the time it was 11pm which was past Maddie's bedtime

"Hey madds come on it's time for bed you have got school tomorrow"

"Urghhh why do you have to go to school Ali,why can't I just stay at home"

I laughed before answering her "you have to go to school so you can get a well paying job and you can live comfortably"

"Yea but we are rich already"

"Yes sunshine but if you don't work hard the riches would go away baby and we don't want that to happen right"

She nodded during our conversation Jay just sat there staring at us and eating the remaining popcorn

"Uh come on it's that all the show...madds give her more and Ali educate more"

We laughed at that and said our good night to Jay;gave him a peck on the cheek and I took Maddie to her room to tug her in

"Good night Ali..I love you so much"

"Night sunshine...I love you more" and with that she was out

I went back to the movie room to help Jay clean up before heading towards the shower but I couldn't help but eavesdrop on my brother's conversation, he put the other person on loud speaker because he was still trying to clear the mess we made

Jay:what do you have to tell me

Unknown:Jason I think am pregnant

Jay:what!!...tell me you are joking

Unknown:I'm not..I told you I was feeling somehow for the past one week and my mom asked me to take a pregnancy test and I did that this morning it came out positive Jay

The person on the other end sounded like his girlfriend because we have spoken when she came over and I could tell that she had been crying before making the phone call

[please forgive my bad behavior I have forgotten the name of his girlfriend and the girlfriend am talking about is the one he met in his office so from this I'll start calling her Stella so so sorry]

Stella:hello...Jay are you there

Jay:yea I am...I'm just shocked that all

Stella:oh

And with that she ended the call which lead to Jay cursing around and he started messing up his hair

I decided to make an entry and immediately he saw me he stopped pacing back and forth

"Hey Jay what's up....I kind of heard your conversation with Stella hope your alright"

"Yea I guess so...I don't really know how to feel Ali...I'm in love with her but I don't think am ready to be a father heck I don't even know if I would be a good father and that's my fear I don't want to be a bad father...I want her to keep the baby but am just scared"

"Don't be Jay from how you treat Maddie and I you would be a really good father,the child would be proud to have a dad like you"

"Thanks Ali"

"And you need to call Stella right now your silence after she told you about the child was disturbing she may be thinking otherwise"

"Oh shit that's true,she would be so mad at me right now and she may think I don't need the child...thanks kiddo...would you help me finish up"

"Yea sure that was what I came here for anyways"

He stood up and gave me a peck on my forehead and headed towards his room and i prayed for his relationship to work out with Stella because the way he talks about her or the way he looks at her when she talks you would know that he is deeply in love with her and the way she also looks at him or talk about him really shows that she is in love too with him

I'm happy for the fact that he has found someone he can spend his forever with

15 minutes later I finished cleaning up and I decided to go back to my room and have a shower

I got into the shower and just stayed under the water for it to relax me

After 10 minutes of my bath I wore my pajamas and went back to my room

I was laying down on my bed when I got a message from an unknown number

Unknown:hey you still up Ali

Me:who is this...Zander?

Unknown:yea it's me you deleted my number?☹️

Me:I kind of got a new phone but let me save it

I changed his name to Zander

Me:all done

Zander:so why aren't you asleep

Me:I can't sleep ...I guess am not really tired and am thinking about a lot of things right now...why aren't you asleep

Zander:I'm just thinking about you like always

I blushed after reading the reply before I realized something

Me:how did you get my number

Zander:I have my ways love

Me:hmm that's fine

Zander:you know if you need someone to talk to I can come over

Me:by this time...it's kind of late you know

Zander:yea I know and do you also know that I live 7 blocks away

Me:I thought your parents sold the house

Zander:yea the did and I bought it back when I was coming here...I needed closure

Me:oh ok

Zander:so can I come?🥺

Me:let me think about it🤔

Zander:pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Me:ok fine you can but you aren't sleeping on my bed

Zander:yea yea I know see you in five minutes

After a few minutes I received another message

Zander:what's the passcode for your gate

Me:Maddie's birthday

After a few minutes I received another message from him

Zander:open your window

I opened it and looked out to see him looking towards me

Me:what are you trying to do....kill yourself?...you can always use the front door you know

Zander:yea I know that I just don't want to and I think your brother really wants to hit me in the face and am not ready for that right now....now take 10 steps back

I took ten steps back and he jumped in almost scratch that he fell after the jump

I couldn't control myself I started laughing and he just gazed at me which made me laugh the more

"Ok ok sorry"

"Finally you have a heart"

He stood up and looked at me what I mean is he checked me out and I remembered that I was wearing my short short with bunny design and a spaghetti strap top without a bra

I cleared my throat "my face is up here you know"

"Yea...I'm so sorry but am a man...I can't just see a piece of art and not stare"

I blushed and I went to my closet to get my sweatshirt to cover up

After covering up we spoke for sometime,it was like he never left before and I felt kind of safe with him again

I don't know when I fell asleep but all I know Is that I did on his lap
