The owner of the Penthouse

''That's probably because you were the first person he saw when the doctors took of his bandages, so he thinks you were the one with her all those years'' Hermes spoke sarcastically and chuckled.

''Hermes, shut up'' Demit yelled.

''Grandpa, Grandpa Suwait… I do not have feelings for Demit and I don't want to marry a woman I can't relate with''

''It is important to be able to relate with someone you are marrying. Ferit is right on that'' Hermes said and looked at Demit.

''Old George, I do not understand what is going on. I want you to talk to your son. I will postpone the wedding until then'' Old Suwait said and stood up.

''Old Suwait, wait…''

''Darling, you look tired. I will make you chamomile tea when we get back. Demit, aren't you tired? You should retire to your place and rest. The wedding doesn't seem like it will happen anytime soon'' Hermes held Old Suwait's hand and gave Demit a mocking gaze as she walked out with her husband.

Old Almendez sighed as he watched helplessly while Demit and her grandfather and step grandmother left. He had always known that Ferit was strong headed and had a mind of his own but this was something he thought he had handled well.

''Grandpa…''

''Ferit, what exactly is going on with you? First I saw you chasing after a doctor at the hospital and now you don't want to go with the marriage that was arranged a long time ago. Tell me, have you really fallen for that doctor? Let me warn you, that woman is not good for you''

''Why? Are you afraid that I might find out something I'm not supposed to?''

''What?''

''Grandpa, I am a grown man and this is my life. This is also not my first marriage so I don't want to settle with someone I am not sure about. I am not doing this for me alone. I have a daughter and I have to think about what is good for her. Demit is not good for Amanda's mental health''

''So, you think that woman is good for Amanda's mental health? Are you really going to be with her even if it means that there will be dangerous times ahead of you? That woman has a criminal record. She was demoted because she has a bad temper and the most important reason…''

''That she is the woman who took care of me when I had the accident? Or the fact that she is the only witness you have in my accident case that you are still tracking''

''Ferit… you? Did you know about this already?''

''Who do you think I take after?''

''You are right. You are smart and intelligent. I can't fool you for long but I am still going to be against whatever you want to have doing with her. That woman has a lot of baggage. There are a lot of eyes on her. Getting together with her is going to cost you a lot of things and one of them is becoming the enemy of the Suwait family. They own 25% shares of the hospital. They are a formidable force. It is because of their support that we have being able to keep a hold on the hospital for so long. We were hoping that, when both of you get married, we will gain more power and become even stronger''

''Grandpa, do you trust me?''

''Ferit…''

''Grandpa, we didn't grow up in riches. You and my father worked hard from ordinary rehabilitation doctors to owning a big hospital which I have inherited. I also worked hard with you to be what I am today. Had it not been that accident, we would have achieved even a lot more and wouldn't have needed the help of the Suwaits. Back then, you told me to propose the marriage and I only did because I thought that Demit was the woman who was with me through the accident but after finding out that she wasn't, I don't want to deceive myself.

''Even before finding out about the truth, I broke up with Demit a few years back because I realized Amanda didn't like her. Amanda is my top priority and I need to be with someone she is comfortable around. Be rest assured, I know what I am doing. I will not let anything happen to the hospital''

''Are you with her because you also want to know the truth about that time? She claims she doesn't remember but I don't believe her. I think that she is keeping something from us and it has to do with that day''

''I want to find out what happened back then but I am willing to wait for Ozge. When she is ready, she will definitely tell me the truth''

''Alright''

….

A.S Apartment.

Ozge got down from the car and waved at Leyla before she pulled her luggage inside. She had gone to Leyla's place after arriving.

When she entered the lobby, she saw Ferit at the reception. Ozge was about to go unnoticed when Temi called her.

''Dr. Ozge is here…. Ferit was asking about you''

Ozge faked a smiled and nodded as she walked to him.

Ferit turned and looked at her.

''Hi, Uncle Temi, hi, Director Ferit''

Temi looked at the two and noticed the tension brewing between them and chuckled, ''Dr. Ozge must be tired, you should let her have some rest first''

Ferit looked at Ozge with raised brows as if asking if she was really tired.

''I will take my leave now'' Ozge pulled her luggage and Ferit smirked.

….

Ozge held the doorknob and noticed it was already opened. Her heart skipped a beat as she walked in slowly.

''Close the door, Miss Ozge'' a voice spoke from inside.

Ozge clenched her fist around the handle and took a deep breath as she walked to the hall. She sat down across the man.

''Why are you here?''

''Miss wants to see you''

''I came out of prison a few weeks ago, why does she want to see me now?''

''Ozge, I hope you know what you are doing. The 'Miss' has received pictures of you and Ferit Almendez together. Are you hoping to rekindle something with him?''

''I have already promised not to talk about that day. I always keep my word. Tell the 'Miss' she doesn't need to worry about me''

''Be careful, Ozge. The 'Miss' will not hesitate to delete you if you ever open your mouth''

''I know that too. Please leave and don't come to my house while I am out''

''Duly noted!'' the man stood up and left the apartment.

Ozge sighed and calmed down. She stood up and walked to the glass window and opened it, gazing upon the moon that had come out.

''It's beautiful…'' she turned and the lights in her apartment went off suddenly.

''O, what is this?'' Ozge removed her phone and turned on her light, ''did I forget to pay for utility?'' she made a call to Leyla.

''Hello, Leyla. Did you pay the utility when you rented the apartment?''

''Oops, I forgot, Ozge''

''Hey! Why are you telling me that now? There is no light in my room. What am I supposed to do?''

''You can ask the front desk to contact the apartment owner. He should be able to help you out''

''Who is the owner of this place? Does he stay here?''

''I think so, he is the one occupying the last floor, the penthouse''

''The… the Penthouse belongs to Director Ferit''

''Huh? The Penthouse belongs to Director Ferit? How did I not know about this?''

''I found out not long ago. I was preoccupied and didn't get the chance to tell you''

''Ozge, are the heavens working for your good? Director Ferit is the owner of the Penthouse and his daughter is crazy about you. Why do I feel that you will be moving there very soon?''

''Bye!'' Ozge ended the call and frowned. ''This is driving me crazy. What kind of luck is this?''

….

Ozge walked out of the elevator and went to Ferit's door. She stood there for a while, contemplating whether to knock the door or not. She paced around nervously and finally decided to knock but the door opened by itself and Ferit came out.

''I…''

''I was feeling dizzy by your constant pacing. Is it that hard to knock on the door?'' Ferit asked and Ozge pursed her lips.

''What do you want?'' he asked.

''I… my light and water are out. I was asked to contact the building owner, so I came here''

''Did you forget to pay the utility bill?''

''Leyla forgot to pay it''

''Aye, you can't even take care of yourself. Come in''

''Huh? For what…?''

''Have you taken your bath?''

''No!''

''Have you eaten?''

''Yes…'' Ozge said and her stomach growled. She closed her eyes embarrassedly.

''Come in. Amanda and I were just about to eat'' Ferit said and walked inside. Ozge stood there for a while before going inside.

When she entered, the man from before came out of a corner and looked at the apartment before going away.
