"I fear soon this building won't be enough to fit everyone," said Docter Ho.
The Docter, the Mayor's wife, the Princess, and a few others were standing outside a building in the village. It was bigger than most and was used by the doctor to treat the villagers.
"I hope that we may not need to find out," said the wife whose name was Lia. "Either way we must prepare it just in case."
Everyone had a look of worry on their faces.
"We are treating the warriors from the princess's convoy as well as the strangers," said the doctor. "One of those strangers lost an eye and they all have cuts luckily all seem to be strong and will survive."
The wife nodded.
"That's good. They are our guests and helped our princess get here safely. Treat them the same way you treat our own soldiers."
The princess had a slight frown.
Lia, noticing this comforted the young maiden.
"Do not fret. We should be happy that these men are alive. They are truly honorable knights and should be celebrated. This is their life and they know what each day could bring. In fact, let's visit them. Is that ok Docter?"
"Yes, that is a good idea. They are still recovering but after being looked at they seem to be antsy to leave. It seems they are uncomfortable in these surroundings."
"Let's go princess," said Lia.
The group walked inside. There were people helping out the wounded and the doctor led the group toward a corner of the main room. There were 4 bandaged men. One seemed to be resting while two were conversing and the last was cleaning a sword.
"Excuse me, sirs?"
The doctor called out to the men.
"How are you guys doing?"
The two men talking stopped their conversation. The man cleaning his weapon looked up.
"Hey, Doc! Couldn't be better thanks" replied one of the men. "What brings you here?"
"Just checking up on you. Let me introduce you to Princess Liora and the mayor's wife Lia."
Lia bowed her head respectively while the princess said "Thank you for all you have done. We are in your debt."
"No need to thank us. We live for this" said the man who was cleaning his sword. He seemed to be about mid-age and had a broad smile which showed he was missing more than a couple of teeth.
"Well I could go for a drink," said a different man.
"Is that all you think about Kayak!" said another.
"Excuse them as they are not used to being in such fine company," said the first man.
Lia and Liora felt a bit awkward but their smiles did not falter. The doctor signed, gave a chuckle, and then clasped his hands.
"Well, we just want to let you know that Sir Kane has been settled and should be recovering. You are all welcome to explore the town and if you need anything please let us know. You are our guests. These ladies will be helping me and the nurses look after you and everyone else who needs it."
"Lucky us to be in such great hands," said the first man. He put his sword away and got up.
"We know that your town may still be in danger."
The princes and company frowned a little as they knew the man was right.
"I offer my sword in its defense. Sir Kane would not have us sit idly by if we are able to fight. Please directed us three to the barracks."
"Gentleman I am glad you feel this way but you are not ready to fight. You should rest and recover still" said the doctor frantically.
"Yes it means a lot but I am sure we will be fine for now. Just focus on getting back to full health" said Lia.
"As you say, ma'am. If you need our help though do feel free to call on us."
Lia and the doctor nodded.
"We will leave now don't forget to call for me if you need me," said the doctor.
The group left the crusaders.
"These men are honorable and have great intentions. I wish more of our soldiers were like this" said the Docter.
"Indeed" replied Lia.
"Do they not tire of battle?" asked the princess.
"I know not of the way of the Iron Rose Kingdom but it seems their warriors are bred for battle. That's their life just like many others in this world. I am just happy that they are kinder than most. We visited his men now let's prepare for the future. I want you two to go to the nurse over there. She will let you know what needs doing."
"Thanks, Docter. Come on Liora" said Lia.
"We have a lot of work to do."
