[Congratulations on the following rewards: mercenary troop contract, mercenary troop building, 6 random tamed magical beasts (rank A), two B-rank legion summons, 1 S-rank historical general, 70,000 shop points, two instant learn scrolls (Battle Arts)]
Kane could barely hold in his excitement. He felt like a kid again. All these presents in one go.
[Ahhh, another thing is you leveled up during that near death experience. Congrats :) You also get 20,000 more shop points and I've thrown in some bandages because it looks like one of your wounds has opened up again.]
"Shit!"
A few minutes later.
"Alright, there we go. Now let's get a closer look at these rewards," said Kane.
[As you say.]
"Can you explain the mercenary contract and building?"
[Ah! I have a feeling you will like this a lot. The troop contract gives you control over a random mercenary fighting force and that comes with starter units for it and it basically summons a faction that will fight for you. And when summoned with the building you will automatically get a way to purchase more troops, train current troops, access special quests, and have another strong building, which is why I recommend placing it outside your kingdom. It could make a decent defense post for the war effort. But keep it close so you always have access to it.]
"Wow, that's incredible. Just that alone is worth the price paid today."
[Indeed. And eventually, you will be able to get something nice that will make travel throughout your territory more convenient. So don't worry about the placement too much. I'm sure your strategic genius will find a nice place for it.]
"Now you got me wondering."
[For another time.]
"Fine, can we have a look at the random mercenary troop we'll get?"
[Yes I can give it to you now and it will randomize what it will be. It could be from history or this world.]
"Let's see."
No bright light, no dramatic entrance, just a piece of parchment appearing out of nowhere and falling into Kane's hands.
"Jomsvikings..."
Kane read the name on the parchment. A small nervous smile formed on his face. His new force was one of mystery and legend. Not much was known about these warriors and the little facts his world had on them were looked at with skepticism.
[Have no fear I am sure you will be happy with them. And don't forget the system takes its own artistic liberties with some of your world's inhabitants. Mainly those clouded and never fully recovered. And I think having the legendary JOMSBORG is reward enough. It's perfect since it comes with a harbor. You can finally think about expanding your operations to the water.]
"Alright that sounds all good and everything but there's a slight issue. I have no idea if there is an ocean nearby. And I'll be honest I don't know about the Jomvikings. I thought they were all fiction."
[They existed. You just don't know any of the details. Either way, it does not matter in this world of fantasy. Does it?]
"I suppose not. They better be strong."
[They are and as for the ocean issue, there is actually a river nearby. A very large one that several kingdoms use.]
"How do you know this? And why have you never told me?"
[It was mentioned by a merchant on the streets of the Kokarian capital. Not my fault you are as perceptive as me.]
"Whatever."
Kane looked around at his other rewards.
"Hey BOT what about this general?"
Kane looked at the S-rank historical general summon. This was something he was very curious about. An S-rank general would be very useful to the rest of the war and his overall empire.
[Glad you asked. This will be a figure of great renown and strength. And being S-rank they have the capability of learning battle arts. And as another little gift, this general will be on theme. Mysterious and quite vicious.]
"Well summon em already."
[Not one for patience I see. Very well.]
And then came the signature bright flash and following blindness.
Several seconds passed. When vision returned to Kane, he looked up at the new figure who had appeared in front of him.
"You are?"
