“I promise you I’ll try very hard not to die. Adrien,” Etienne called to Julio’s Beta who waited just outside the door. “Take the Alpha Mate to where the other Mates are gathering. Make sure he is surrounded at all times by our Enforcers, you and Gilbert.” Etienne carefully pulled Julio off his lap and stood.


“No!” Julio shouted and seized his wolf’s hand. “Gilbert must have your back. I’ll be with the other Mates. Take Gilbert and have him behind you or I’ll come into that pit myself.”


Etienne sighed and let go of his grasp. “Armand was right. I am going to have trouble with you. I’ll take Gilbert, but only because I know you’d get into trouble if I don’t.”


Julio gave Etienne one more lingering, scorching kiss then turned around. “Remember, I will not be separated from you, no matter what,” he said over his shoulder as Adrien took him out of the room.
