“Rhea, I’m glad to see you’re looking better.” The female doctor, Dr. Mendoza, arrived back about half an hour after she’d disappeared to get the results
“Thank you,” I responded awkwardly when I felt the stitches pull in my cheek.
“It appears you have gotten away lightly,” the doctor explained. “No broken bones.”
“Which is more than I can say for Simon if I ever get my hands on him,” Lee growled. I shot him a warning glance.
“There is something else that our tests picked up,” the doctor continued. “Perhaps you would like your friends to wait outside?”
I quickly shook my head. The last thing I wanted was to be left alone with a stranger, even if she was a doctor.
“Okay, well, Rhea I am sure you remember that as protocol we took blood and urine samples when you arrived.” The doctor looked at me intently.
Of course, I remembered. How could I forget? I hated needles.
“Yes, I remember,” I nodded and instantly regretted it when I felt the soreness in my neck.
