I thought Christmas was going to be a pain, but it ended up being a blast. My girlfriend Marian was having her oldest friend Susan come to visit for a week. They’d gone to Catholic school together and I was expecting someone prim and proper. But to say I shocked would be an understatement when I saw her sashaying her way over to us at the airport.

As Marian introduced us, I caught a wicked twinkle in her eye.

“So, I see Marian wasn’t exaggerating when she said how good-looking you were, Toni.”

Naturally, I had the grace to blush as she leaned forward to kiss my cheek.

I felt the spark immediately and wondered if she did too. For a moment I was speechless.
