Despite his dejected look, he smiles when he sees me. I whimper and throw myself at him. He catches me and crushes me against his broad chest.
“Are you all right?” I snake my arms around his neck and cling to him, happy to be pressed against his solid body again. It feels like centuries ago.
“Yes. No. I don’t know.” He draws a deep breath and buries his face in my hair. “I am now.”
“What happened?”
He shakes his head.
“Father freaked out, that’s what happened.”
I jerk at the unexpected voice. “Seamus?” I try to extract myself from Kieran’s embrace, but he just tightens his grip. Instead, I twist my head until I see my best friend. “What are you doing here?”
He tips his head at Kieran. “He was in no condition to drive, so I took him.”
