Chapter 4

“Why are you dressed?” I mumble. “What time is it anyway?”

“Seven.”

“In the morning?”

He chuckles. “Yes, of course.”

I groan. “Take off those clothes and stay in bed.” I wiggle my butt to entice him.

“Theodore.” His voice is rumbly in my ear and sends a shiver down my spine. I grope for his hand, and when I find it, I pull it around me. He splays his fingers on my lower belly. I hum, and my eyelids fall closed.

“Baby, I have to leave,” he says.

“Why? Where are you going?”

“To my parents.”

My eyes open and I twist in his arms. I throw my leg over his thigh, fling my arm around him, and squeeze. Nuzzling into the crook of his neck, I inhale. “Don’t go.”

“You don’t mean that.” He rubs his nose on the top of my head.

“No. Yes. No.” My heart thumps so hard he can probably feel it.

“I need to tell them.”

“But what if…?” I bite my lip.

“What if what?”

My throat starts to burn, and I swallow. “What if they convince you to break up with me?”
