Still, seeing that kiss stung him in a way Ethan could not have imagined.

“Did that feel good?”

Yeah, he was thatstupid.

Ethan walked out of his hiding place. He’d known he’d regret having said the words. Yet, he couldn’t stop them from escaping his mouth.

Alex literally jumped.

“Did what feel good?”

Ethan shrugged. “You’ve cold-shouldered me for a couple of days because of what? Because you’ve found another lap to dance on?” That must have hurt Alex but Ethan couldn’t care less.

Something flashed in Alex’s eyes—was that guilt or anger?—before he managed a smirk. “Aren’t I supposed to be the one getting mad here? You went out with Lea—”

“That was to keep up appearances!”

“—on the night you said you wanted to go out with me!” Alex didn’t stop his outburst. “God, it was youwho planned that night, Ethan.”

“It was only supposed to be for show.” Ethan forced himself to calm down. “Lea was here. What would she have thought if I hadn’t taken her out on Valentine’s Day?”
