Chapter 11

Glen took Aiden in his arms and embraced him tenderly. “I would never leave you. I won’t ever leave you.”

“I know. I love that so much about you. Sometimes I just want to show you how much, but I can’t think of another way to do it.”

“That’s fine, I get it. All I’m saying is you don’t have to show me. I can see it in your eyes when you wake up in the morning, or in the way you hold my hand after a rough day at work, or…or when you leave me some coffee in the pot even if I don’t know if I want more yet.”

Aiden chuckled softly. “But those gestures seem so small, inadequate. You’re perfect, and you deserve better.”

Glen looked Aiden in the eyes, their noses barely touching. “Hey, I’m far from perfect. Despite your history, I think you would get into Heaven before I did, because you try your damned hardest to be a good person no matter what. Just be that good person I love, and that’s all I need from you.”
