Chapter 13

“Yeah, remember? When I was asking guys who wanted to come back next week, you came up and volunteered? Said you needed the money?”

“I…don’t remember…” Glen rubbed his temple with the heel of his hand. “Maybe I did…” He could see himself in his mind approaching Connor early in the day, back when he was sort of on autopilot and going through the motions, except he practically begged for a spot on the next week’s crew. He wanted to say he couldn’t, that he had other plans, but if he had asked so desperately and they really needed him…

But Aiden needed him, too. Poor Aiden. If Glen came home and told him he had gotten himself scheduled for another seven-day work week, he didn’t know how Aiden would take the news. Considering he would have been working with Stephan all weekend, Glen didn’t expect him to react positively.

“Sorry, I just remembered. I can’t work Sunday. Aiden got me a ticket to the matinee for his theatre’s new play.”
