“We’re going to grab a bite to eat. Want to join us?”

“Not really,” Ricky replied shortly.

“Oh.” Denise grinned up at Julian. “I think you’re right. He’s definitely being the crouching tiger, or maybe the hidden dragon?”

“Or maybe just wanting some alone time?” Ricky said, essaying a small smile at her lame description.

“Got it.” Julian chuckled snidely. “Even the great and wonderful Ricky needs his space every once in a while. Okay, don’t say we didn’t offer.” Putting one hand on Denise’s shoulder, he steered her out of the dressing room.

“Jealous much?” Ricky muttered, kicking the door shut when they didn’t bother to close it.

He realized, somewhat to his surprise, not only didn’t he want to go to supper with them; he didn’t want anyone’s company. Except…
