Chapter 10

“If it’s any of your business, I was on my way to supper and thought I’d ask if he wanted to join me.”

“What? You couldn’t find some gullible female to use as arm candy?”

Ricky winced. “Sometimes, believe it or not, I’d rather be with someone who can hold a decent conversation that doesn’t smack of ‘Look at me, I’m being clever. Aren’t you impressed?’”

After a moment’s hesitation, and a thoughtful look at Jace, Ricky nodded. “How do you feel about Central Pork?”

“The food is good, but the name sucks.”

“Ain’t that the truth. Still…” Ricky almost smiled.

“Yeah, it’s close and I’m starving.”
