That didn’t happen until over an hour later when Jace came to the doorway to say coldly, “Not going to say good morning?”

Charlie looked up from the design he was working on, replying, “They said you were busy so—” he tried for a smile, “—good morning.”

“That never stopped you from bothering me before.” With that said, Jace turned and left.

Charlie blew out a long breath. Yeah, he’s beyond angry and I can’t blame him for that. Things are going to be real bad if I don’t do something.

He didn’t get a chance to. First Steve came in to talk about his new vision for the show, whose designs Charlie had just been working on to finalize. As tense as he was, it took everything he had not to bite Steve’s head off, even after Steve apologized. “I know I’m throwing everything into a cocked hat, but listen to me and see if you don’t agree it will be better.”
