Chapter 28

By noon, he was certain Jace had changed his mind. When two-thirty rolled around he was glad the day was busier than usual because he knew he was right. Jace wasn’t going to show. He’s probably taking advantage of his last day off before all those rehearsals. Sleeping in and just relaxing at home. I would if it was me. That didn’t make him feel any better.

“Why the hell do I do this to myself,” he muttered under his breath, causing the guy he was helping with a heavy bag to look at him questioningly. “Just thinking about something I need to do this evening,” he told him with a shrug.

The guy chuckled. “Something you’d like to get out of?”

“Yeah, pretty much. Okay, try standing like this…” Liam demonstrated and the lesson continued.

Twenty minutes later, Liam walked behind the refreshment counter to get some water.

“My treat. I owe you.”

Liam turned, smiling, feeling a sense of relief. “I was beginning to think you weren’t coming.”
