Chapter 32

Two forty-three. Let the countdown begin. He went upstairs to debate what to wear. I’m acting like a teenager going on his first real date. No, this isn’t a date. It’s just…Saturday in the park with Liam. He chuckled at his paraphrasing of the musical title.

Finally settling on jeans rather than slacks, he chose a pale blue shirt to go with them. But it’s still too soon to put them on.

“This is crazy. Calm down. Pretend I’m just…meeting Merianne for supper. Yeah that works. Not.”

I’ll be a nervous wreck by the time I get to the gym. Damn it, I’m a grown man. I’m meeting a friend for supper. That’s all this is. He took a quick look at the time. Three-ten. How time flies. I wish.

He flopped down on the bed, staring up at the ceiling, then immediately got up again. With my luck I’d fall asleep and wake up at seven, blowing the whole thing.

“One reason to get a dog. I could take it for a walk, work off my pent up energy and worry,” he muttered. “A bit late for that now.”
