Chapter 37

Trey went around the front end of the truck and stayed within arm??s reach of Landon as he made his way slowly toward the house. Trey noted that Karen had been very thorough about making sure the path to the door was devoid of snow and ice.

His sister stood at the door watching, Aine on her hip. ??They??re calling for more snow. Snow and crutches is a really bad combo.??

??I don??t think I??ll be going out again today,?? said Landon. He negotiated the doorway and Trey came in behind him. Karen put Aine in the porta-crib in the kitchen.

??Bed or sofa??? asked Trey.

??Sofa.?? Landon thumped his way across the den and sank onto the couch. He set the crutches off to one side, injured leg stretched out along the cushions.

Karen went into the den and knelt in front of Landon. ??For the next week, you??re an invalid. If you want something, tell me. I??m gonna make sure you eat and sleep and I will personally rip you a new one if you try to do something stupid. Got it???
