Chapter 43

Lund’s Sports Bar

Lund’s Sports Bar was packed with numerous queers who were dressed in their blue-and-gold fan gear, supporting the Vipers on their away game in Niles, Ohio. High hopes of smashing the Niles Knights for the umpteenth time hung in the bar. Most of the fans called the Ohio team the Niles Nancy Boys, well aware of their season’s losing streak. Never had the Knights won a game against the Vipers in the last sixteen years. Neither had they landed the title of division champions.

As expected during the third quarter of the game, the Vipers were up twenty-one points. Weston Drake, our team’s wide receiver, was keen and accurate on the field, performing at the highest level. Shaydon Phillips, the Vipers’ fullback, was spectacular and without error when articulating his offensive blocking and line plunges. Our tight end, Jesus Merandez, was like a God during the plays, working as if he were an unstoppable machine, weaving left and right as he blocked.
