Mark rolled his eyes. “Probably cheer, say I brought it on myself by my sinful ways for ‘fornicating’ with those young women, and go on about their daily business.”

“I take it there’s no love lost between you.”

“I haven’t spoken with them since I was defrocked and they haven’t tried to contact me. Before that…” He shrugged. “They lived in the reflected glory of my being a priest.”

“Lovely people,” Paul muttered. “They make my folks seem like saints.”

“Very good,” Helen said. “Not your relationship with them but the fact they won’t be showing up here trying to help out. Next question, when you signed on with Phillips Models, did you list your parents as next of kin with their contact information?”
