Chapter 6

“Citizen James, while not all on this panel are in agreement, we have to, at this stage, take you at your word and release you. However, you should know that the Department of Justice shall be keeping a very close eye on you. That is all. You may go.”

Julian stood up and nodded respectfully to the panel before being escorted out of the room and back down the corridor to the lift. Once inside, he heaved an enormous sigh and felt the tension that had turned his muscles to rock slowly dissolve. It had been a close call and as the doors to the lift slid open again he vowed to be more careful next time because there certainly was going to be a next time. Taal represented more than a distraction to his dull existence. Taal represented freedom and Julian was determined to do all he could to escape into its wide-open arms.
