Chapter 5

What an understatement that was to Declan, who couldn’t stop shaking ever since he received the parcel. His heart. His love.Declan could tell just by looking at it. This was from Parker. Lord. Parker had decided to contact him despite everything Declan had done to him.

Leaning against the kitchen counter to steady himself, Declan fumbled to remove a small envelope that was attached to the chocolate box and pulled a card out.

It was a plain card. A white plain card. With nothing scribbled on the outside.

He couldn’t make himself open the card.

Clang, clang, clang!

“Whoa, whoa.” Ryan’s flailing hand caught Declan who was hammering a large chunk of iron plate over and over. “What is it?” Ryan asked and turned Declan to face him. He was quite surprised at the flushed, sweaty face and bewildered expression. Declan didn’t seem to want to talk. He yanked himself free and returned to his metal sheet, heaving his hand high, ready to pound it again.
