“Ohhh, a secret,” Calista anxiously grabbed the phone, chattering away to her new imaginary friend.
Lynn watched, unable to wipe the contented smile from her face. She honestly could not remember the last time she had felt this much happiness. Spending the entire day with Calista had been incredible and so fulfilling. After finishing with the tuna noodles, Lynn moved on to the macaroni and cheese. Thirty minutes passed and everything was finished. Calista helped Lynn to set the dining room table with a lace cloth that they had picked up at Lynn’s house. Also, Lynn had brought over some candles and sterling silver holders, placing them in the center of the table. A single red rose had been placed into a clear vase and Calista and Lynn took a step back to see their work. “What do you think?”
“I think we did good!” Calista high fived Lynn when she knelt. “Do you think Mommy will like it?”
